piscator Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi all, any pointers would be appreciated. I have just hooked up a Pana BD85 and are playing Iron Man which says it has Dolby TrueHD 5.1. My receiver only shows Dolby Digital, I would have thought the TrueHD indicator would have lighten up. Anything I should be looking at to get it to display properly?????
Adam1553552670 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Have you selected the TrueHD soundtrack from disc's languages/audio menu, and made sure the Panasonic is set the bitstream HD audio (in the player setup menu)?
piscator Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 Hi Adam, where in the Pana do I set it to bitstream HD audio, I have had a good look thru and can not see it
Adam1553552670 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Stop any disc that's playing, then on your remote control press the 'Function Menu' button (the right-hand curved button near the bottom of the remote). The setup menu will open. Scroll down to the 'Sound' option and click 'OK'. Now select 'Digital Audio Output' and click 'OK'. There should be options for 'bitstream' out for HDMI for all formats. Set these all to 'Bitstream' or 'On' or 'Yes' and any options for 'Secondary Audio' to 'Off'. By the way, I'm assuming you're using an HDMI connection, as if you're using a standard optical or coaxial digital cable you won't be able to hear HD audio at all and will get only Dolby Digital, DTS or stereo PCM (only HDMI will HD audio output, generally speaking).
piscator Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 awesome Adam, all sorted, thanks very much.
grex Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 i have the exact problem with Panasonic BD45. the difference is the soundtrack is in DTS-HD and the player has been set-up to bitstream the audio and have chosen the correct audio option through the movie and it is still only comes up as DTS. have tried with my samsung and lg bluray and it's playing DTS-HD just fine. any ideas guys ?
piscator Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 make sure "Secondary Audio' is set to 'Off' in where you set it to bitstream, that was what my problem was.
