Omegaspeedy Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Great to see strong bidding on the second hand Komako cables. Haven't tried that model but going on the Katipo's they must be brilliant.
hopeman Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 Hi James, It's far more better than the Katipo in my system. But I don't need them anymore. And finally, Pass Labs INT-150 is the match amp for S1.4 so far, better than these combination I tried. Plinus CD-LAD + Plinius SA100 MK3 Plinius M16 + SA50 Plinius M16 or Plinius CD-LAD or Shindo + ASL aq-1009
got tinnitus Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Komako user over here. 100+ hours on mine now; more than happy with the results. So cables already run-in (such as those on TM) means the time has been spent already....and time is money!
eRaS1553552749 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Currently: 2x Komako IC (trialing one), 1x Kokiri, 3x Katipo PC. Great cables Good to see the resale value as well, though it might be hard to replace, especially in the given price range.

The Dyns would love the quality and grip of that Integrated so I bet they are singing like never before:) Are you going to give us an insight with photos in the 'Forum members system'? I'd like to hear what you've found as you've been through a long journey with your gear. Cheers James.
glennb99 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I could be tempted by either Komako or AQ Sky. I have AQ Colorado between pre and power amp. Could do with better cable from CD-Dac to Preamp. Any suggestions on which would be better? (I run Kimber Monocle spkr cables and AQ Pikes Peak for phono stage to preamp). Thx, Glenn
NeilNZ Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 The Sky is a superb cable, you won't go wrong with it.
hopeman Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 AQ SKY is better than KOMAKO in my system. If it's not only 0.5M, I will keep it for next upgrade. But they're not the cable will tune the sound to warmer, if your system already sounds forward or bright, don't use either of them.

Which one is a better cable in your opinion?
glennb99 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Thansk team - I'll put a bid in on the Sky. Glenn
hopeman Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 Hi Quentin, Sky is better than KCAG, no doubt. However I need XLR instead of RCA now.

I'm not an electrical engineer but it's to do with the way that Audioquest believe signals behave as they flow down the cable. This 'device' (DBS?) seeks to improve the sound. Best to look at the AQ website but I suspect you need to have a pretty good grasp of physics to understand it! I tried the AQ Colorado I/C (which uses this DBS concept) against some others and found it sounded better. So much so, I bought it. Don't understand it, but my ears were happy. Glenn
NeilNZ Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Its a pretty straight forward idea actually. DBS stands for Dielectric Bias System. The idea is to apply a voltage across an anode that goes down the centre of the cable and the shield acts as a cathode. What this apparently does is align the molecules or fields in the dielectric which does away with having to burn a cable in... or something... it does make sense, and I have to say when I was at EHF we did some listening tests with Skys with the DBS on and off (although you have to wait a couple of weeks for the effect to wear of the cable) and you could hear a difference. The DBS cable was certainly smoother and seemed to have less grain. And that was with a blind test as well...
