Michael Jones Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Looks as if the West family have a stereo system in their lounge in the final series of Outrageous Fortune. I was trying to catch a glimpse of it but for some reason the camera keeps sticking to the people in the program! The electronics look as if they could be grey and my immediate though was NAD. The speakers though I'm struggling with. They are a floorstander with two woofers and an offset tweeter with a slight horn. Anyone pick what the system is?

Your credibility might take a bit of a hit here:D:p Surely your hi fi can't be bad enough to make you "want" to watch that instead.
Guest Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Best programme on the telly! And I can't be he only one who goes hi-fi spotting on TV programmes!
nixon76 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 In Nurse Jacky last week (or the week before) one of the characters was (briefly) espousing the virtues of vinyl. Must be a fan in the writing team.
Brian Ono Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Im sure whatever it is it'll be "Grunty"and maybe even "old school"

I haven't watched last nights episode yet, but spotted the stereo last week ( how tragic are we ). Fairly sure it was NAD from a few models back. B
adikt Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 :eek: Has the forum been hacked by the "stay at home mums forum"? You lot sound like my sister in law. It'll be Oprah next:p
Owen Y Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 What's the ChCh equivalent of Henderson-Glendene? Cerwin Vega, surely
stuarth Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Palmerston bogans prefer big old Plinius amps driving PA speakers for sustained high volumes. And still manage to blow them up.
Guest Guest Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Nothing wrong with Outrageous Fortune! It is THE only programme we watch on TV! I think the stereo belonged to Wayne. It was in his house before he moved in with the Wests. You saw more of it in an earlier series, and I think Wayne listened to jazz. The Wests had a horrible big all-in-one before Wayne moved in! I'm always looking to see what it is!
Pookina Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 They're old NAD components with a pair of Wharfdale speakers. Not sure of the models. And yes, Wayne brought them from his house when he moved in (Series 4?). I work on the show.
Declannz Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 House's Hifi pisses me off. Nice Sota turntable hooked up to those stupid gray speakers. what a waste.
hal551553552752 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 A few seasons back he used to have a nice pair of Elacs. Haven't even noticed the grey speakers, and i love to go hifi spotting in movies and TV shows. A real hard one - there was a brief glimpse of a valve amp in the Nicholas Cage movie "Knowing" - anyone know what it was? Hal55
Bally1 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 i thought the system on House was sota,Thor Audio pre/power and Duevell omni,s Cheers Bally
bazza hallward Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Oh Yea! Outrageous Fortune is an awesome programme... you guys don't know what you're missing - especially from last night's episode ;-) And I was thinking about the stereo too when I saw it... I thought the speakers looked like Wharfdales.
Shane Hanify Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 If someone can find me a picture of said speakers I'd know. Dad has a big old pair of Wharfedales from the early? 80's with horn tweeters ala Motorola. And they sound very *very* good. Speaking of hi fi in programmes (yes I hunt for it too) there is a complete absence of it in "This is not my life". Not a skerrick of gear to be seen. Anywhere. Cheers, Shane. Cheers, Shane.

Mach 5's 7's 9's and e90's had the horn tweeters , I've still have 3 pairs of the Wharedale Mach series , the 5's and 7's are on home theater duty. Mach 9's are on Stereo duties.
