Citroen Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Du Pre/Barbirolli/LSO, 1965 is probably the best known and favourite versions. I have a few versions on vinyl of the Elgar, including Elgar conducting The New Symphony Orchestra in 1928, with Beatrice Harrison. And Webber playing under Menuhin 1987. The film Hillary and Jackie was wonderful too. I've seen a few documentaries many years ago re: Du Pre's version, one which included some amazing dancing. Anyone know what that documentary was and if its available to see again? Or what's your favourite version?
Owen Y Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Those who are unfamiliar with this pc & du Pre's famous interpretation can now catch it on youtube... http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=L5C99JyP2ns&feature=related All 4 movements are there. Warning...rather melancholic

Citroen Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Thanks for the link Owen Pity about the youtube SQ. The more I think about it, I think the dancers where from NZ (Limbs or maybe Michael Parmenter??).
