The screen on the first unit looks superimposed onto the photo.

Badly...

Troll answer..

Maybe the person who stuck the screen image on had to use Photoshop on a mac......

Actually reading the specs on the DAC... Wireless USB? I suspect thats going to have many issues for high quality sound reproduction. Specially on the 2.4Ghz band. Anyone want to kill their Wlan? Or their cordless phone?

I use 5.8ghz in my house, avoids so many problems, and as long as you have a good high gain antenna on your access point ( I use a Ubiquity bullet with a 9dB omni up in the rafters in the hallway ) you will have absolutely no issue with signal strength )

I don't know if a crap Photoshop operator would have done a better job on a Windows workstation.

Four words: Bring out the GIMP

Yes Wireless USB sounds just dodge to me. As does Wireless HDMI etc etc. But that's not very enlightening - I think all wireless is dodgy.

Ernie - notice it was a troll reply.

Although having lots of mouse buttons of course helps. Mine is a nice high res geeky gaming mouse, and in photoshop its absolutely fantastic.

And Nixon. GIMP? That is possibly the worst UI ever in any graphics package. Ever. Period.

sure, it does lots. And its free. But I would be rather unhappy to pay for it!

At least we agree on wireless technologies and audio :)

Clearly you are an well-balanced linux user. It's the zealots who seem to enjoy the perversion of the GIMP UI....:D But for the true inner circle, nothing short of a CLI will do - even for graphical work ;)

What's wrong with your guys!?

The screen on the first is admittedly not "elegant", but I can see how it could actually be SEEN from the listening seat.

Good point. In fact it's my main criticism of the (lovely) Olive 4HD, damn screen is too small and just can't be read unless you're right on top of it. Unless you have an iPhone that is...

Computery type stuff is about convenience - no changing CDs etc etc, accessing your whole library etc. Getting up each song/album to poke at a big glowing touch screen? So last year ;) You want a remote (app or hardware) that handles the control (and shows you whats playing) - or at least something discrete on the unit. Let the box just handle the 1s and 0s. Heard, not seen etc. :D

I wonder on the PS Audio PWD how many people will actually use their (small by comparison here) on-board touch screen for control (esp for the up/down buttons for volume when used as a pre ). I'd say a very small percentage - maybe near field headphone adepts only.

Gidday folks,

personally I have a bigger issue with the fact that it looks like a lunchbox.

And somebody please come up with a more elegant solution for front USB ports. Every single one I've ever seen looks like an afterthought. Seriously.

Cheers, Shane.
