Shane Hanify Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Gidday folks, This showed up locally. RP-1000 Does anyone know what it is and would it bury my Technics SL-D303? Cheers, Shane.
kaka Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 If you goggle RP1000+turntable it comes back with Rotel I replaced a Thorens with Rotel at one point - the Rotel suited me better as it isolated far more successfully from any movement in the room. Sounded OK too (the LP12 was a step up)
Shane Hanify Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Thanks Kaka, that's the first thing I did but couldn't get any that looked anything like that one in the listing. Looks like a cross between an AR plnth and my technics arm(!) Cheers, Shane.
maxgate Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Yes, this is a Rotel. I used to flat in a hovel where one did the sonic honours - and it was the most respectable thing in the building.
Shane Hanify Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Thanks Max, might be worth a look if it's in good condition or would it be a side step? Cheers, Shane.

If it's in good condition it should be a modest improvement, however you'll probably have to fit your own cartridge. It still won't match a Rega 2 or 3 but, for the money, it will be reasonable.
Shane Hanify Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Or alternatively it could be this ... Aimor RP-1000 Which means that plinth is plastic and not wood. Cheers, Shane.
maxgate Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 If it's an Aimor (and my memory, dusted, says that the Rotel was wood) then I can't comment with authority. It's likely that your Technics would be at least as good and probably better.
Shane Hanify Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Your memory is correct. The Rotel was wood, although it was the smaller model nos straight tonearms that were the ones to get (RP-850 etc). Ah well, I could always put a custom plinth on the list of things to do, although I suspect a decent cart and phono stage would yield the best results. Cheers, Shane.
