MARTZ Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Just noticed that sonus faber have just released a new flagship speaker called the Fenice. the world premiere was held in Venice a few days ago. spotted the details here- http://www.hificlube.net/Sections/Details.aspx?articleID=23488§ionID=2 looks like an amazing speaker... thought the sf fans here might be interested.
Guest Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 It looks like an Energy speaker from a few years back with a slab of wood on the side. Possibly the ugliest SF speaker ever?

Shane Hanify Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Gidday folks, gah. My eyes. I do like the guy in the first picture - his expression is "Oh. What were they thinking?". Cheers, Shane.
kaka Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 There is a link from that page showing some of the technical details
aarond1553552714 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010  Had to go and look at my little ones for a while after that.
Ernie1553552694 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Let's see if Australasia gets a pair. As a very rough guess, $400K might buy a pair.

LHH Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 They somehow make me think of a cross between a pair of Rockport Technologies and a pair of Magico speakers... Not a good look, but they probably sound amazing.
Guest Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 More like a bad mashup of Energy, Wharfedale, Mission etc Can't belief this got out, SF are usually aesthetically pleasing.
Hamsta Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 OMG, NO!!! Someone please tell me that those photos have been doctored with the SF logo! I'll bet those crates got unloaded out of the back of a white van!

Ha, Aarond--I wouldn't worry-- your Guarneri's are by far the finest speaker ever produced by SF-indeed one of the most musical ever produced-period. The later SF's have missed the boat-- this latest doozy looks to be trying to out Magico Magico!--and they're overpriced earsplitters. Des
nixon76 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 kaka;126526 wrote: There is a link from that page showing some of the technical details Build quality certainly seems up there. That shape seems to be more common these days - i.e. thin at the front and getting wider as it goes back. The ex-SF guy has a new speaker of similar shape - Ktema. Prefer the wooded version in photo 6 myself.
eRaS1553552749 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Form over function! I heard those babies are limited, and sold out. Not even all the dealers will have access, if they wanted.
glennb99 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I think they're an average look and that's not what SF are about. They should be elegant - and they aren't. Pity. But yes, I bet they'll sound good.
Electra Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 It even carries its babies on its back - looks like a little stand mount in the back!
nixon76 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I think the dismay(?) here is not that it's a ugly speaker - just about every mega speaker is ugly - but that it's ugly for a Sonus Faber.
bazza hallward Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Its both pretty and ugly... ie, "pretty ugly". ...and it's pretty ugly for any speaker. Mind you, I don't think Sonus Faber actually make good looking speakers: design wise Sonus Faber speakers make a bold statement, which will appeal to some but not all.

bazza hallward Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I know I'm probably in a minority opinion there

Excellent link to what I think are some of the ugliest speakers I've ever seen! Fantastic to think that people pay tens or hundreds of grand for these monstrosities.
