Hi all

Please have a look at the attached links and feel free to comment!

Finally got around to put up the photos.

top and bottom are 32mm thick solid pordocarp(Rimu look alike) wood, 1510mm long and 650mm wide.

The legs are 45mm x 45mm square solid pordocarp, the cross member are pine (running perpendicular to the direction of the pordocarp planks)

whole thing is screwed and glued.

beautiful! are you a chippie? or did you learn to do that off the net?

Do you find the center speaker blocks the remote?

What sort of costs do you think for the materials?

That's really excellent work - looks fantastic. I've just bought the Edge 2 rack which has very similar dimensions. I put some photos in a forum member systems. The rack has some simple plastic conduit screwed to each of the rear legs that helps tidy up the cables. Enjoy yourself, Glenn.

Thanks! I am a structural engineer TBH... so these things are actually quite simple to me.

luckily the centre speaker doesnt block the remote :)

The 32mm planks cost about $150 to buy... all up material is approximately $200 or there about? not including labour though... did this for fun.

Ditto - I particularly like the way the supports attach to the top and bottom.

The only thing my wife would say to improve it is to have a cable management system. I have a quite nice Australian AV stand which has a perforated metal panel at the back that disguises most of the cabling. Although mine might be for strengthening means as well which yours would not need.

Thats really nice!

I need a new cabinet for my gear...is anyone here up to building custom ones for fellow audioenzers?

Id really like it to be made from a light coloured wood like Tawa or something...my decor is all light wood and skyblue glass.

Id prefer custom built from wood as opposed to a generic A/V cabinet...

oh yeah - I really like this.

Looks like you have good depth so an option, if you wanted to refine cable management, could be a length of basket tray running along the top of your rear channel - I love this stuff because it's so open, so you can enter/exit wherever required. Velcro wraps are then great for holding the cables to the tray. Good effort :)
