This looks to be a very affordable and versatile item.

 

• USB DAC with Headphone Amp and Line Out.
• Optical SPDIF output to so that it can be used as an interface to an external DAC or an AVR.

Anyone laid their hands or ears on one?

Doesn't look bad for an entry level product. Still, I'd much rather throw a few more $ at something like the dot for a far more flexible unit.

The Dot doesn't have SPDIF out, so the Audinst is actually more versatile as far as connectivity goes.

 

I'm looking for both a Headphone DAC and one which will occassionally be used when I want to stream music thru my HT AVR; hence the interest in the SPDIF Out.

 

Not looking for a high end product ATM, nor would this be replacing the Dot.

Bugger, wish I had known about this before I bought my HRT.

 

$260 on tardme from an Australian seller.. are there any in NZ yet?

One has already sold on TM.

Guess I'll find out how good it is shortly.

 

Ordered mine from the Australian distributer directly rather than thru TM.

Update;

 

Received the DAC today, which I thought was damn quick delivery.

 

Pliugged it in and it sounds ok.

 

Possibly a bit harsh compared to the LDD, but ATM it's being powered from USB.

 

I'll let it burn in over the afternoon.
