I had been looking at them there for several weeks and went in once I had decided on the V10. The salesperson told me he would find out what the best price they could do was (I was getting a whole package of things) and he came back and said $3799, at the same time another salesperson was just changing the sale sticker price from $4499 to $3499. Apparently a call had come in from Panasonic that the RRP was dropping and hence the sale price should drop too. Needless to say, I didn't wait to see whether there might be a mistake. If anyone comes across a deal like this, please let me know. I'll fund it out of my weekly allowance...!! I need another screen so I don't have to share with the kids. Baz1553552744
Well I have been trying to get an idea of the best cash price for the 58" V10, and so far 6200 is the best without trying too hard. I am waiting for a quote from the guy who installed my speakers so hoping for a good deal there, as he will be including a wall mounted install. Just have to not sound too keen, I want to haggle! I just bought a GPS from them and hopped over to check out the 50v when i overheard someone asking about the 58V. God those salesman @ HN came across as they all sucked a sour lemon b4 they came to work didn't they? Anyway, they could do $6300 cash price plus delivery. not bad considering the 850 were near 10k not so long ago.
Baz1553552744
Finally seen a 58" V10 and cash price down to 5999. I am wanting to wall mount, but was surprised at how thick this panel really is. Even wtih a thin wall mount it will stick out from the wall a bit. At least with the 58 it won't seem as bad. Saw it at Mag Ben Albany, but their positioning does make you very aware of the recflection issues of light directly behind the viewing position, not that other panels wouldn't have a similar issue in the same position. Getting a lot closer to a final decision, but that Samsung is looking quite slim up against this one.

Will have to duck around to HN next weekend for a look. Baz, I'm sure if your viewing position is directly in front of the panel the thickness shouldn't matter? My oldish 42" sticks out from the wall considerably but that's all forgotten once I'm planted in front of it. Is the slim Samsung you are referring to a plasma or LCD/LED? Baz1553552744
I am not too worried about the thickness, I think the 58 would not look so bad given its overall larger size. With my speakers now in wall the TV will be more obvious, and that's the bit the other half may have a problem with. Not panicking yet though. The panel will probably last longer with a larger chassis to ventilate.
nixon76
Mycenius will tell you it's a good thing that it sticks out a ways from the wall.

Went to both HN @ botany & Mt Wellgtn in the weekend, none had them. But they put the PZ850 on special for around 36, which is an amazing deal. and they moved the TVs around, getting ready for the 58Vs and others. Baz1553552744
I thought the 3999 I had seen was a pretty good price. For a 58" TV that is a pretty darn good deal alright. Maybe I could afford a 65 now, .
Spoonsey
I saw the new 54" Z Series at HN Mt Wellington today. Quite impressive but I'm not overly keen on the grey/silver styling or, for that matter, the wireless widget thingy that attaches to the bottom left of the panel. It's distracting. Still no 58" V at HN - they reckon they have to clear the PZ850 first (at a jawdropping $3999). That is tempting but I think it's only display units left. Baz1553552744
Saw the 54" Z too, agree about the styling, wouldn't care about the wireless bit, I believe it can be removed like the side speakers. Another box to keep it slim, acceptable in my books. But, I like the idea of paying less for more screen. I got a price down to 5739 (at Mag Ben) for the 58", so still heading in the right direction. Was talking to Shraneet (mentioned in another thread) at JB's in Albany and he is chasing up a deal for me, so may finally get this for closer to the 5500. Don't expect to do much better than this but I am happy with having looked around.
oakley_nz
just saw the 54 Z1 @ HN botany too. Very very thin, but for that price, you might as well grab the 58 V or 65V.
Baz1553552744
Finally ordered my 58" V10, under 5500 (delivered). Can definitely recomend Shraneet at JB's Alb, he would have beaten the price I got (from my installer). The price we pay for being too keen. Install is scheduled for 21/22 Dec, so bring it on. ToPGuNZ
Ordered my 50G10 from Shraneet yesterday, a touch under $2500, just working out when to get it home. Not THX but had to post it somewhere. Full version of events to come. He suggested I pop it in the back of the car but not very keen on laying this down in the car so will negotiate for delivery. little blue penguin
Plasmas should not be transported lying down, but don't ask me why. I managed to get a 42" panasonic plasma upright into the back of a Camry by taking out the back seat cushions. Probably best to pay for delivery, then if it gets damaged you're not out of pocket. nixon76
The plasma drains out the holes in the bottom if you lie it down.
