Belkin PF40

2 years old and in new condition, my Belkin PF40 is up for sale.

I now have another PF40, so this is surplus to requirements. Although not a 'serious' line conditioner a la Chang Lightspeed/Power Station etc, it's a damn good bit of insurance in case of power surges or blackouts - just like the one that fried my Plinius system in the summer of '94. And it doesn't seem to have affected sound quality to any discernable degree also.

 

ps: There is an interesting story behind my obtaining another PF40, and it's good news in terms of customer service from Belkin itself!

Does it clean anything else, besides your picture?

 

Any idea if this would be an upgrade from a standard $300 Belkin Pure AV 8-way power board, like this one?

Seriously, my tv picture actually improved when I routed the aerial through the PF40!

I would expect the PF40 to be a bit better than the power board thingy, it is more expensive afterall

I have both the Belkin Powerboard and a PF30 and I have not noticed any difference in sound quality interchanging between the two. I also tried a PF40 in my system but there was not enough of a discernable difference to part with the extra money. I guess it gives you more of a reassurance that your equipment is well protected against the unforseen.

The PF 40/60 offer a lot of filtering according to Belkin, over and above the straight protection. Opening one up, it has a few parts to it, although not what I would call massively large amounts of filtering!. Mine is there purely for protection, however my power is very clean. I do notice that the fridge starting up no longer has any effect on the TV, nor the microwave ( neither ever appeared to be noticeable via the audio, but the picture was visible effected )

 

I don't notice a lack of dynamics as some have suggested, but then, I would have to tolerate that as I certainly notice a lack of dynamics when everything has smoke coming out of it. That is very noticeable.

 

A friend in town has a PF60 and he claims a not so subtle improvement in the audio, as he has LOTS of wall warts and laptop PSU's in the house, and his power is often notably dirty.
