Good Day Everyone,

I'd like to share my hifi setup. A bit of history,I have been into hifi since i was teen age, I used to have DIY speaker, Pioneer amp and Technics tape deck. It was terrific as first hifi system. My prefference on type of music was more on dance, pop and usually i play quite loud, you know why...

During my university time, i spent more time on studying and hang out with friends so there is no place for hifi until about a decade ago when i started working proffesionally. I came back into hifi again and setup with the following gear:

1.Denon DCD1650SR as source (currently for sale),

2.Rotel RB/C1070 as PRe/Power Amp

3.B&W DM602S3 as speaker

The more I spent time listening to the music the more curious for me to upgrade my gear, and I decided to start upgrading to more serious gear, one at a time.

Since last year, I have been upgrading my old component and they are sold to SNA members. Hope they can be enjoyed by the new owner.

Now this is how my current setup look like:

The components are:

Ayon CD2s

Acoustic Revive RST38

Jeff Rowland Corus

Pass Labs X260.5

B&W 802D

Purist Audio Design Dominus XLR

Purist Audio Design Corvus XLR

Purist Audio Design Corvus BiWire

Isotek Synchro

Xindak XF1000S (Oh I like this, affordable, solid build quality and it seems do the job)

Solid Tech ROS 3 Ref

Solid Tech ROS 3 Reg

Voodoo Magneto/Tiger Power Cables

this is short clip of the setup :popcorn :

Congratulations on your excellent rig Msetjadi. Although I don't own Pass Labs amps, I very nearly bought a pair of xa monos myself. I recognize most of your gear & just sold a CD-5 to upgrade to the CD-5s (with upgrade board). The CD-2s is a great value player for what you're getting. I don't think there is a player at that price point which can compete. I also like those ST racks & recently bought a pair of ST racks and an RST38 board for my Ayon player. I'm also a fan of those 802d's & your Pass monos would certainly give them plenty of juice. I was actually flirting with the idea of buying a pair myself, but they weren't an ideal match for my smallish listening space.

Hey i'm in Melb as well MSet, send me a pm if you want to chat mate!

Cheers,

Bhodi

Thank you Bodhi, I made the right choice to go with Ayon Cd2s, and i agree with you it is hard to beat with others on the price range, somemore it has gorgeous looks.

Congratulations on your sale, your cd5s for sure will please you, why you need to upgrade the board, is it significant improvement from the original?

It was long decision process before finally i decided to take Pass monoblock, so many different amp out there and auditioning is sometime impossible. I guess this is one of problem for Australian market, limited hifi shops and paying top of the range prices  , if the reseller is here they don't carry full range stock for demo .

Have you used the CD5's DAC? I tried my cd2s usb input the other day fed from my laptop to play flac file, i was blown away by the sounds come up, i almost could not hear the difference with the original cd. Now i am considering how this can be best done, through a transport(network file player) or computer. The latter seems to be cheaper option.

Hi Mset,

I agree I think you made a great choice; the CD-2s had several improvements over the CD-2, including an excellent BB 24/96usb board which Ayon included in the CD-5s. I was not surprised to see Ayon upgrade the board in the CD-2s as the older USB board used in the CD-2/CD-5 was an inferior old spec board. I like the Ayon's distinctive look. In particular the CD-5s is a brute beast!

A computer based server will be cheaper than a dedicated high end server, though if you're connecting a high grade optical or usb cable to your Ayon's dac (assuming you're using a reference sound card & high res files) in reality the difference will likely be minimal & will come down to convenience. Bladelius have a good 1st generation media player which looks promising which Boris has in his showroom. Apparently the software is upgradable, so it can be easily updated over time. Personally I still enjoy spinning discs, though one day i'm sure a media player will come along which will force me to re-consider my current reference

Re: the upgrade board I mentioned, it is not offered by Ayon, but one CD-5s owner commented it improves the sound by atleast 15% and gives a sound very close to vinyl. Apparently it improves the CD-2s closer to 20%. Pm me if you'd like more info.

Cheers,

Bhodi

Thank You for the all compliments.

@GoodVibe: I got the CD2s from absolute high end.

The room accustics still needs some work. On one side, it has thick curtains while the other half is not, the floor is on carpet. When you click the previous link you can find the room layout, it has wide opening on one side. Any recommendation of good diffusor?

@Perth-Ed: They are fantastic amps, it drives the 802 very well

Great looking system, hope it gives you many hours of enjoyment.

JCR33 had some mobile screens in his showcase thread here, maybe pm him for more info.
