Nordost work really well with Marantz gear. Why not give them a try?

Have to agree with that, I've got Nordost power cable and XLR interconnect from my Marantz SA11 and the combo is brilliant. Perhaps the blue heavens might be a good way to go...

I've use Audioquest cables for many years and found them to have a consistently "relaxing", non fatiguing, but detailed presentation with a variety of gear: Arcam cdp and amps, Copland valve amp, Wadia cdp, Perreaux and Plinius amps, Cambridge Audio Azur gear. I've used both RCA, XLR cables - their copper and silver wire models. I've also used Slinkylinks silver XLR ICs between a Wadia 301 cdp and Perreaux amp with good results; detailed, but with no glare. (Am looking to move the Slinkys on.)

Just my 2c worth.

Hey thanks for your helpful posts. Which Audioquest did you use SoundMark?

I've also noted the NZ Antipodes product with their Katipo interconnect @$250 (also Reference and Gold out of my price league) http://www.antipodesaudio.com/productsnz.html

Trial demo may be way to go as hard to tell price-performance.

I'm restricted (?) to RCA for CD/SACD outputs, but was wondering about unbalanced RCA or balanced XLR between the preamp and amp?

Yep, take home a swag of demo cables and see what you think. Simple A-B testing will tell you little and lead to possibly some confusion. Probably the ones that will work best for you will be those that stay on the longest and allow you to listen to the music without thinking about the system. Although for most owners here, it's very a very difficult thing to do...
