Velodyne CHT-10 can be had for around $800. It would be my choice (as it was in fact my choice) for HT at that price. Adds a whole new level to movie sound tracks.

has anybody got anymore info on the audiopro subs? or websites i can go to?

thanks

Gidday.

You're getting into the "if it looks good on paper ... " trap.

I don't know how many of those are available here.

What you need to do is wander into a dealer or three and have a play with them. I expect any of them around the 1k mark will suit your needs, but don't get hung up on power or driver size. The velodynes are just fine but don't discount other brands. Tannoy do a thumping little sub around that price, as do Energy, Mirage, REL (a bit dearer but brilliant little performers those) etc etc.

Cheers, Shane.

The REL is probably going to hit all the marks (at a price that blows your budget), but so would one of these for the money you'd like to spend.

In my experience, the Mirage in this price bracket can be quite warm and textured in sound, but you'd get that in spades with the Jamos you already have. On the other hand the Sub Evo is fast and punchy. It excels in movies and music, especially rock where you might want to have the bassline pulled out. Don't skimp on the sub cable either. If you get that right, the bottom-end will be a revelation. It's a rare thing to experience the musicality of a quality sub that has been well set up.

I have an Allroom sub in my setup, and it's also very pleasing when watching movies. Kabooooooom! :D

Or try the Velodyne MicroVee on special
as a very small option.(look under specials)

Aren't they a cute wee thing? Everytime I go in there I want to put it in my pocket :D

I don't suppose they come in colours that aren't I-pod do they? :D A white sub for a predominantly rock setup is just wrong :P

On a lighter note, who stocks these? I've seen a pair of standmounts down here, but none of the subs.

Cheers, Shane.

PeteG our resident Audiopro representative has been on the South Island leg of the Audiopro "Blues Brothers" Tour showing the trade all that Audiopro magic.

I've always found white knee-high leather boots to have a certain rock chic aura but if the blackness is what you're after, try the Mondials.

Otherwise I do believe Wharfedale do a vinyl-clad sub. Not quite the same as leather in my books.

Hi everyone, have just arrived back from the south island...

Shane unfortunately we do not have any current Audio Pro dealers in your area, but this will be changing over the next few months :D

In terms of the OP, I would actually consider very strongly the new Sub Wigo (gloss/ash black finish, much more appropriate for rocking out!) This is the new matching sub for our entry level series, and in terms of value for money is setting a new standard. Rave reviews as well....

What well performing sub cables are out there?

I've got an M&K 75 on 5 metres of el cheapo RCA, and it's not tight.

Might be more to that than cable of course, but that seems like the place to start.

A bit of searching reveals lots of them :

MIT

Nordost

Blue Jeans

Analysis Plus

Wireworld

Harmonic Tech

Audioquest

Audience

dh Labs

Stereolab/Stereovox

Synergistic Research

and many more ...

I know the cable I'm using did a poor job taking DVD sound to a pre-amp, so the only way is up.

Anyone had experience with any of these ? Or similar ?

Sub cables? You have to be joking.

Any old cable will do, as long as it has the right connectors.

It beats me how you can tell the difference, a sub will only go to approx 80Hz in most systems.

In my system I have a Bose 75 ohm cable as supplied with their Lifestyle Systems, and it doesn't pass any high frequencies at all.

This could possibly be a wind-up, but as I am the President of CableSkeptics in my street, I felt obliged to answer.

Would you be interested in a Paradigm Reference Servo 15? At one time I think these were retailed at $4k+ here, but could be wrong about that. It has never been used and apart from a bit of dust is in new condition. Review

These are very good subs, I used to own one. How much you asking for this Antipodes?

Yes, I do believe it's a windup. A better sub needs a better cable.
