frequentflyer1553552672 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi I have just listened to a couple of the Stockfisch sampler cd's and IMHO they are absolutely stunning. In fact for my money they leave the other so called audiophile labels far behind with Mapleshade being the one exception For once superb recordings coupled with great music, lyrics and technically extremely well arranged. Not cheap but if you want to extract the last morsel out of your audio system I recommend you try them. Jason Parmenter is the NZ agent. (Am I allowed To Say That) Cheers FF
Tristar71 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 of course you are FF... yup that cd is amazing. SInce I listened to it at yours, I did a bit of looking online and came across www.elusivedisc.com, here you can buy the Sara K album on XRCD. I put a few CD's in the shopping basket - only about 6 or so and the bill was over $400!!!! FRICK ME! I decided against buying any. They're about $60 each one of them I put in the basket 'Jazz at the Pawnshop' double CD was over $100... anybody have this... is it worth it.. are the XRCD's worth buying at $60 a pop?

I picked the (brand new) three SACD set up on TM a while back for $50, so I'd venture that $100 is a bit steep. But then I might have been very lucky. It is a good recording, but I must admit I actually gave mine away to a friend who did me a big favour a while back.
Tristar71 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 well - it appears you were lucky! and it must have been a big favour! Rather put the $400 towards a DAC and enjoy the music I have

I stick by my initial observations regarding the Stockfisch CD's Just bite the bullet, pay the money, buy the Stockfisch's and get the missus back working offshore earlier to pay for them. The Police DVD is wicked FF

Jeez Tristar, I'm choking over having to pay $51 for the new Wilco DVD when it finally lands in my local music shop. I ordered it locally because Wilco released it on Record Store Day and I wanted to support the cause. Compared to the prices that you quoted I sound like a cheapskate! Nigel. Attached files
