Had seen that, but, didn't see mention of the Mober Plinth.

That's cause I used an original 1976 Linn plinth!

I did see those metal ones as well. I really love the wood ones though. If you search there are custom makers of Linn plinths around the world. Some are pure works of art with prices to match.

Yes you must have missed it Chris.
Edmund’s been making them since August last year.

@Peter-C  non facebook user so little wonder I missed it.

@rodders3 I am also a fan of the fluted wooden plinth, but, am questioning at what sound quality cost.  Mine is non corner braced and without the motor corner bolt, but, am contemplating doing the corner brace / bolt mod when I pull it down for other items to be fitted.

Chris Harban's plinths are pretty special. Nearly bought one, went with a new Linn one instead. Love the Wenge ones though!

They are works of art!  :thumb:

Would be fascinating to compare otherwise identical LP12 with Woodsong (wood) & Mober (metal) plinths, though!  :)

To many mechanical interfaces for my liking....

Once you've had a (admittedly bonded) one piece there's no going back....

Hi Guy, how are you!  It is more free to speak out in Aussie I think.

I make my one piece LP12 plinth back to 2016, the cost is about the same as 4 pieces, but very difficult to pack if you ship oversea. In case any scratch, no remedy.

That is why I came up with the 4 piece  plinth idea. Every part can be replaced easily. Plinth is only a part of the whole LP12, tonearm, phono cable, motor power supply, plinth , SSP12 and bearing is many times more important than a bonded or non bonded plinth. It is bonded by two 4 mm long bolts on each side. It is being considered as bonded, bear in mind that all wooden plinth are not bonded, isn't it that bad?  I can't hear any difference when I do the comparison with the one piece LP12 plinth and the 4 piece plinth.

One interesting story, a guy bought the 5000 quid one piece metal plinth but use Lingo 1 and Ittok 2, I am not sure he really considers the plinth is bonded or not bonded when he paid 5000 quid or USD6,000 for a plinth.  However, I am pretty sure he will be very mad when I launch my 4 piece plinth at only a fraction of the price he paid.

Metal plinth is the least interested upgrade, therefore I make very few,  sold 3 , UK, USA and HK, all 3 customers are very happy, they told me that a big improvement in sound stage.    I have not sold any to Aussie yet. If you are interested, contact me on by Facebook. I am happy to cut a good deal if you are interested. Cheers!

Hehe - and once you've had an LP12 with no plinth (and no top-plate)!  ...

And, yes, @Mober, that's an SSP12 on my 'SkeletaLinn'!  :thumb:  And a 12" arm at the front.

Andy, your turntable looks great.

LP12 users do not mind the 3 tiny screws that fix the sub-chassis and arm board.

Who care the two 4 mm bolts that fix the plinth together. ?

The whole LP12 from tonearm , tonearm base, motor , bearing...etc. totally how many mechanical interface. Forget to mention the wooden plinth corner joints. ?

...just 9 screws assemble my Tonearm/Cartridge/Motor/Bearing....

....3 Bolts with Nuts for the Keel and suspension set up....

My understanding is you can’t use the Mober Plinth unless you have an outboard PSU.

But it does look great!

You can, you still have the corss brace to hold the Valhalla.

The question is that the metal plinth is the final touch to improve the overall sound. It is not cheap. It is for very serious audiophile. When they had upgraded all and looking for more.

But if use on board PSU, you will never get to this level of sound.  ?

Sorry Edmund I may have read it wrong somewhere. I thought it was an electricity issue with the metal plinth.

I think it is right though. It does not worth to risk the high voltage power supply inside the metal plinth but that build in PSU will not improve that much.
