F18
How do these compare to a well modded and powered HD800? Cheers
Gary Chen
The elear are very different, Ive had a read around, the hd800 are sharp and detailed, the elears are less amp dependant and is a heavier and punchier sound. Its not as technically capable or as wide but is a more relaxing listen. The elears also have great dynamics and has really good bass extension for a dynamic but suffers from a very uneven treble in stock form.

I agree with some of what you say and don't agree with some other points. But that's just my opinion but this is the classifieds and not an impressions thread so i shan't go on. just sayin' cheers
vincents
Hi I own both as well. In each case upgraded with Cardas balanced cable. I also changed the pads on my Focal Elears to Dekoni sheepskin perforated - made a better balance between the bass and the treble, moving them closer towards the Clear. They are both excellent headphones - in terms of style I think the Senn 800 is better at orchestral whilst the Focal has a richer sound with bass more like speakers and better if you are in a toe tapping mood. It is a good headphone. V

Can't say, as I haven't compared them. Both with offer quality sound, with the sound preference of the listener being decisive. For me, I have been very happy with the Focal sound signature. Cheers Well, they're not utterly transparent as the sound volume is attenuated (a little). That's a lot of sound leakage, probably wouldn't suit, unless you both have the same taste in music.
