I've just bought a 2nd hand G&W T2.6F Chinese headphone amp. It's supplied with a pair of Electro Harmonix 6922 tubes. My first impression is that it sounds not that different from my fine G&W TW-J1 solid state head amp - detailed, slightly thin, fairly but not spectacularly engaging, bass should be deeper than it is.

As an aside, I plan to replace the solid state TW-JW's 5532 op-amp by a socket + Chinese HDAM clone to see how it affects the sound.

I've ordered a matched pair of NOS Russian Reflector 6N23P military tubes which are probably still a couple of weeks away and have an excellent reputation for SQ.

But I'd really like to know what Mullards would add to the equation.

Anyone got an old pair of these lying around that I could borrow for a few weeks?

Cheers
