Artie59 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Hi, I recently purchased a Luxman L-509X integrated and am really enjoying it. My speakers are Dynaudio Focus 110s on stands and my listening area is an average size lounge. I'm looking to upgrade to better bookshelf speakers and read that Harbeth and B&W match well with Luxman. Any other suggestions? (up to about $7500). Oh, any speaker cable recommendations for such a setup? Thanks Artie
Cafad Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 As do dyns I believe. Honestly though, your choice of speakers will be very broad, Luxman amps are truly exceptional creations and will match well with a very large variety of speakers. The choice is yours really. 1
hugo_wilco Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Tannoy, Harbeth, Graham, Dynaudio all sounded great when mates to the Luxman. It’s going to work with a wide variety of speakers. 1
warweary Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 I always wonder, why bookshelvers in a lounge? I'd be suggesting dynaudio x44, vaf i66, b&w 804, that kind of thing for a lounge room. 1
Gryffles Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Spendor D7 for sale in the classifieds. And in Sydney
Al.M Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 (edited) For bookshelf speakers consider Dynaudio 160 and C1, Sonus Fabers like Amator, Krix Esoterix Altum, VAF i91, Lenehans, PMC, Legend Kure, ATC, Osborne EOS, SGR and Hulgich Edited February 17, 2019 by Al.M 1
Tim D Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Spendors go well with the Luxman, having listened to some D9s on Bill’s System. I am quite enjoying the Dyno C1s with mine. I can’t imagaine what C2s or c4s sound like but they must be fantastic!
Warwick Robson Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 G'day Art. I was a Sonus Faber fan for years. The mid range warmth and the build quality, I believed to be second to none. I had a brand new pair of Olympica 1 bookshelf speakers and stands. Beautiful! That was until I saw and heard Mike Lenehan's ML2 reference speakers. I took my Olympicas up to Mike [on the Gold Coast] to see how they stacked up to his ML2s. I was blown away, as were the Olympicas. Needless to say, I now have Lenehan ML2 Reference speakers and stands. BTW, he also makes absolutely unbelievable speaker cables and interconnects. Why pay for all the middlemen and shipping costs when you can buy fantastic quality straight from the manufacturer and save yourself a fortune? If you want his number, PM me. He's a great guy, very easy to talk to and makes incredible high end audio gear. Cheers Warwick.
Artie59 Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. Certainly some food for thought and makes I hadn't heard of. I'll check out some of the speakers mentioned and let you know what I decide on.
Kdjjdk Will Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I second the Lenehan suggestion . World class quality without the BS nonsensical “high end “ mark up
Artie59 Posted March 8, 2019 Author Posted March 8, 2019 @Kdjjdk Will @Warwick Robson Thanks for the suggestion. I have spoken to Mike during the week and will go up to the factory in Qld. to audition the ML2 Ref and ML5 Ref and his speaker cables.
Warwick Robson Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 That's fantastic. As I said, he's a really great guy with an incredible knowledge of hi end speaker and cables manufacture. I'm sure you'll be impressed. Let me know how you go. Cheers Warwick. 1
