with the correct amplifiers absolutely brilliant - can sound ordinary depending on amplifiers(This not only affects bass quality but the cleanness of mids and highs as the difficult impedance can make amps struggle ) . Careful tweaking of setup and positioning will reward with glorious music making. Really high quality spikes , Townsend speaker platforms etc can make a huge difference to bass quality and definition.

Great speakers at a terrific price

No it is a drop in replacement from scanpeak.all original polydomes have discentegrated with age.this was the only weakness with this speaker, so the work is done and this one lasts indefinitely,so a bonus for the buyer. It actually betters the sound of the original in some ways being more dynamic and detailed. Gary the music monster ?

Is that the original midrange driver? I thought they were white?

I looked out for an original a while back for a set of sixes. No where to be found. I think that Scanspeak is around $300 odd as well.

Yes that’s right you cannot get original polydome anymore. Gary the music monster ?

These are "stunning" speakers  BUT !  they require SERIOUS amplification !!!!!      Cant stress enough...... unless the amp has serious current capability these will sound anaemic and out of control..

With the right amplification the Kappa 9 will embarrass MANY MANY very high priced speakers.... They truly are an Infinity Classic.

I still have 2 pairs of Kappa 9,s  in storage. :)

Your absolutely right about needing a capable amplifier to shine, and I haven’t herd many speakers that outperform these regardless of price. I fort they would sell instantly at this low price.my friend herd these last week and he fort they were better than his reference speakers, 30 thousand Wilson benesch.i think I should put the price up. Maybe friend should buy them and sell the Wilsons and pocket a profit. .... unless you put the price up again when he gets interested.

Does this model need one of those Infinity bass control module things ?

No and that’s a good think, considering all the problems with the servo amp.i owned infinity iris epsilon’s with the servo and had lots of problems. These compare with the epsilon’s and even beat them in some areas. I have compared them , yet the epsilon’s cost 3 times the price of kappa 9 when they came out. The kappas were exceptional value for money when released in the late 80s but still the price was 8k aud back than not cheap buy any standards.gary the music monster ?
