maybe I’m late to the party or maybe no one else does this but I have been trying to find a good app to stream music from my NAS to my iPad Pro for years now and the closest I found was the fine-sounding but fugly and barely-usable “neutron" which I tolerated, more than enjoyed or Synology’s DSaudio which has a very frustrating sliding-panel interface which I never liked and haven’t gotten used to.

Somehow I missed MusicStreamer until now (it’s hard to search for network players on the App Store. You get streaming services and media renderers and video streaming apps, mostly) and I haven’t been using it long but the interface and user experience is just great (like Steve Jobs’s "glass of water in hell") and the sound has so far been excellent. I have no affiliation with this developer but I thought someone else might find this useful.

my main system lives in the family room so I do a lot of listening with headphones on my iPad while the family watches tv or something. Not ideal, but bad bad bad music players didn’t help. If anyone else has been looking for something like this, it’s super easy to get started with and set up with a very responsive search function (3000 odd album collection) and a very intuitive interface. I really like it. If I remember correctly it cost something lik $6 but there’s a light version if you want to try it. Anyway, if you’ll use is $6 is a no-brainer

happy to hear about anyone else’s experience with this type of playback or other suggestions
