Hi.  To consider, I have a Hana SL cart with 50 hours on it. Lovely sounding and has great reviews. Just upgraded to a Lyra as a Christmas present. It’s in Sydney and $620 would see it’s yours including postage.

Was used on a Rega arm and very briefly on a Wilson Benesch ACT unipivot arm.  Suited both no problems. There are also plenty of reviews on this cart and perhaps one might match with your arm. Good luck with your search.

Hi,

I have a Supex SD-900 that I would sell (one of the all time greats).

I bought it for a project that never happened.

I was at a meeting in UK and sent two cartridges to Expert Stylus Company to have them costed for a new stylus, He looked at the Supex, cleaned it, and said it would 'be sacrilege' to retip it, as it was in excellent condition.

It complete with an Expert Stylus box, however there is no stylus guard.

I would accept $550.00.

Never thought of going for a vintage cart but from what i have read the sound signature sounds like my flavour.

No adjustments on my phono amp so l will study up on compatibility

Over 47 years I’ve gone;- MM, MC (for a long time), MM. staying with MM now and inexpensive Garrett K3. For $350 (Try Tivoli) they are an outstanding cart. And field replaceable stylus. But each to his own.

What type of music do you play?

I hear what youre saying MW, I have traveled the same path and am aware l may be getting back on the same merry go round but l have just upgraded my turntable to a lovely acoustic solid which has unleashed more of that vinyl magic.

I do hear nothing but good things about the garret carts so they are on my radar and in the end cheaper than a replacement goldring stylus so my options are open but giving MC another go is just so tempting.

The attributes l am after in a cart would be dynamics , emotion and tone which are what l love about vinyl.

The music l listen to is Jazz Blues Vocal with 10% rock thrown in.

Two ways I got back into MMs and Garrotts was by firstly a cheap (but new) Technics TT as a second TT to play my old MM carts from over the years. With removable head shell you can have one cart out and another in in minutes.

But I wanted a fair standard to be my main cart in this second TT. I went for a Garrott K2 and loved it. For the other 6 MM carts I had to roll here I got all new styli for and all new headsheels. And even picked up more carts along the way. But the K2 for a few hundred dollars was a standout.

When my Ortofon Rondo Blue needed retipping I sent it off to Tivoli. In the mean time I dropped the K2 in my Rega P3, my main axe. Over the six weeks waiting to have the Ortofon tipped I enjoyed the K2 even more to the point where I decided to stay with Garrott and thus the K3.

My three home systems are all DIY. I don’t make TTS or CD players but everything else. My DIY phono stage (currently) is a tube MM preamp. When I had the Ortofon I used two or three different DIY MC step-up stages. But with all MM I can cut out one stage, the MC step up. Some may not see this a problem but when every component in your system buggers the sound (buy makes it louder) one less buggering is great. Thus I’m staying with MM.

Not only that but after six weeks my Ortofon had not been retipped by Tivoli and it looked like it was going to be even longer. For a few hundred I can get a K3 stylus and pop it in myself when the time comes.  And it’s a Shibata profile at that.

Will do mate. I have been rolling my small selection of carts through my new table and starting to get an idea of their sound signatures (relative to my system anyway)(and my cloth ears) and you cant have too much info l have found especially when choosing carts due to their difficulty to try before you buy. So in a couple of weeks l am hoping l can contribute something to the site that can hopefully answer some questions for someone like yourself.

Funny you should mention that as l am pretty certain the TT belonged to you at some stage so it been on a trip to Melbourne and back. In fact it is your Acoustic Solid but l bought it from demondes minus the arm and fitted my Audiomods Classic to it which has been a very nice combo in sound and looks great as well and the wife loves it too so its happytimes at the moment.
