fish Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 I thought I’d ask the forum the following.I have a friend building a very flash new home. They want music in every room, controlled by smart device, plus a high end system]n the lounge room. They have looked at a rack based amp system with cable running all over the house. There must be a better way. Suggestions?CheersMark
Guest Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 The approach you've mentioned is generally the norm for "higher-end" installations, often controlled with a platform like Control4 or similar. NAD, for example, offers rackmount, individually zoned amplifiers that can be hard wired to ceiling or inwall speakers. This system also has the added functionality of working on the BluOS platform which means you can also add additional Bluesound portable speakers around the home, which also become additional "zones". This type of system is reliable, offers great sound quality and integrates into home automation systems which can all be controlled from a simple app on a phone or tablet etc. The alternative is less integrated with the home and uses one of the wireless platforms such as Denon HEOS, Yamaha MusicCast, or Bluesound etc. These are portable products that are just plugged into power and 'talk' wirelessly to one another. Generally, they're still very reliable assuming a solid Wi-Fi connection across the home. Some of them can still be integrated into a home automation system and platform. If you were building from scratch I would still go a hard-wired system myself and as we're building a major extension on our home presently we have gone down this path. If you are decking out an existing house, it would be far simpler and cheaper to go the wireless options. 1 1
