TrumpyAl Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) I'm hoping for some info on a Thunderbox 1200 that I (finally) got my hands on. I'm still mildly traumatised that Sonique left me with only half my system purchased :) I was picking up a pair of SAV-DB1 surrounds and spotted a Thunderbox 1200 SE there. Asked the question and made the deal on the spot. Everything seems in order and the sub hasn't disappointed at all, but I am scratching my head trying to figure out why it doesn't have an bass reflex ports on it? All reviews, and photos from the archived copied of the Sonique web site describe the two forward firing bass ports, like the below image... Does anyone perhaps have some insight into the story behind this one? I'd very much like to hear them as I do love a mystery! Edited January 22, 2019 by TrumpyAl
TrumpyAl Posted January 22, 2019 Author Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) I did find the below listing for a 1200 SE with no ports and a rear mounted driver, which is reassuring, but it would be great if someone could recall how these models fit within the Sonique timeline. Some insight, or even theorising, into what Steve was hoping to achieve with the two different approaches would be much appreciated. https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/51359-fs-sonique-speakers-sav4se-main-sav-c1se-centre-thunderbox1200se-sub-brisbane-area/ Edited January 22, 2019 by TrumpyAl 1
