manchu Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) In the few short weeks since our middle boy turned 3 he's: - Gone walkabout when camping. I found him half way along the 200m path towards the river. - Jumped solo into the public swimming pool, just after we'd taken his floaties off. Luckily a woman in the pool noticed and grabbed him as he started sinking. - Swallowed a 10c coin and nearly choked himself. He doesn't talk much but after seeing the opened money box on the ground and coins everywhere it didn't take long to work out the likely cause of his distress. Confirmed 30min later when he threw up the coin, just as the ambulance arrived. Little bugger is testing us. I wonder what's in store for this week? No such incidents with his older brother, but that's probably because he got 1st child undivided attention. Not so easy now there's three of them. Edited January 21, 2019 by manchu 1
GregWormald Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 It sounds as though something could be bothering him if it's all not just coincidence and exploratory behaviour. Does he have any comments?

He's just adventurous is all , nothing to worry about !I was a toddler terror - walked 3km with my dog from home when I was around 2 & 1/2 and found playing by deep 10m pit .Another time started whistling after inhaling a cashew so off to hospital for removal.Short time later decided to drink Petrol, luckily smart enough to spit it out but off to hospital again for checkup. Was always getting into some sort of strife but managed to survive LOL .Just accept he's a risk taker and guide him to learn, not always the hard way ! Does he have any comments? Definitely some things bothering him. Namely older brother abuse and younger brother attention stealing Just a kid being a kid so nothing to worry about. I probably assume he’s as capable and attentive as his older brother but he’s far from it and I’m sure we were much more paranoid/careful with the first. Very little comments. More a doer than a talker. 1

My son was mercifully "quiet" through his most potentially stressful years. Actually he is 23 now and hasn't really ever given me any cause for concerns. That said my nephew seemed to go out of his way to kill himself. Fingers in bike chains, falls, jams and his piece de resistance, running his hand through a freshly, not yet extinguished camp fire, within minutes of us arriving at Dalhousie Springs, around 1000kms from a hospital. Most boys are a worry at that age. Good luck.

Nigel Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Middle Child Syndrome - seems normal to me. Just as well match boxes aren't as plentiful as before.
