Found this unit listed for sale in Sydney by the first owner for a very reasonable price. Didn't give a chance for second thought, paid full amount to the seller's bank account on the same day and took a drive to Sydney on the next day (around 870 km one side). Started from Melbourne by around 3.00 am and reached back Melbourne by around 10.30 pm. It came together with few other vintage units also. Out of joy I sold all other units for pretty low price tag in the next two weeks. Hope everyone here loves to see photos together with all info The Marantz 2325 unit was in fair condition with all functions working perfectly. I was searching for this model for a very long time and was almost dancing when I got hold on this unit. I use to keep moving from one unit to another but decided not to sell this unit anytime in future. Did a full restoration of the unit on April 2018 and I'm sure it will be helpful for others also if I share those information here. Capacitors : Elna Silmic ii (Document with capacitor list and values attached here)+ Vishay power filter capacitor (Upgraded to 18000uf x 2 from 15000uf x 2 original value), https://irebuildmarantz.com Technician : Dallas, Melbourne Other parts : - New 3D printed FM dial light case (Ebay) - Tuning signal side light case (Ebay) - BA312 upgrade module (Noah Schumacher, US http://marantzhallo-fi.blogspot.com/ ) *(Never go for this upgrade as it has given enough troubles. Replaced Power filter capacitors :- Right Power Amplifier module:- Removed Right Power Amplifier module, Replaced and upgraded hot fasteners in driver stage, Removed and tested Right Channel output devices, Cleaned heatsink and replaced transistor insulating washers, Replaced signal carrying transistor bolts and shakeproof washers, Replaced critical coupler C701 with styro-bypassed Solen polypropylene, Re-assembled and tested. Left Power Amplifier module:- Removed Left Power Amplifier module, Replaced and upgraded hot fasteners in driver stage, Removed Left Channel output devices, Cleaned heatsink and replaced transistor insulating washers, Replaced signal carrying transistor bolts and shakeproof washers, Replaced critical coupler C701 with styro-bypassed Solen polypropylene , Re-assembled and tested. Power Supply and Protection Circuit:- Replaced and upgraded hot fasteners, Removed protection relay and replaced with new, Replaced all capacitors and transistors. Re-assembled and tested. Phono Amplifier:- Replaced C401, C402, C403, C404, C413, H405, H406, H409. Note: C413 polarity is incorrectly marked in this unit. Dolby Tone and Meter Board:- Replaced C601, C602, C607, C608, C609, C610, C611, C612, C613, C614, C623, C624, C627, C628, C631, C632, C635, C636, C641. Buffer Amplifier:- Replaced CH05, CH06, CH07, CH13, HH11. Am Tuner:- Replaced C 167, C 168, C 169, C170, C171, C172, C173. FM I.F. Amplifier:- Replaced C204, C205, C208, C218, C219, C229, C242, C243, C244, C245, C249, C250, C256, C260, 0261. MPX Stereo Decoder:- Replaced C302, 0304, C306, C307, C308, C309, C327, C328, C329, C331, C332, C337, C338, Dolby Unit:- Replaced C601, C602, C607, C608, C609, C610, C611, C612, C613, C614, C623, C624, C627, C628, C631, C632, C635, C636, C641. Pre and Tone Amplifier:- ( Reverted back to original BA312 module recently ) Removed Pre/Tone Amp board, desoldered and removed CE07, CE08, CE9, CE10, CE11, CE12, CE13, CE14, RE11, RE12, RE13, RE14, RE15, RE16, RE18, REIS, RE73, E01, E02, Removed components affected by glue, cleaned PCB and replaced components. Installed BA312 Modules, RE73 and remaining capacitors, Replaced critical signal couplers CE05, CE06 with Solen polypropylene bypassed with Mundorf EVO 0.022uF. Front Panel Assembly and lighting:- Removed front panel, controls and switches, Removed dial string mechanism, Removed radio scale plate, Removed lamp assemblies and light guide, Desoldered and cleaned function indicator lamp bar, Replaced pea lamps with LEDs provided in kit, Replaced Axial lighting array with LEDs provided in kit, Installed 3D printed light guide provided in kit, Re-assembled front panel, controls and switches, Re-strung dial drive mechanism, Replaced cursor lamp in dial assembly, Removed decomposing rubber component in dial assembly and replaced, Tested all lamps and refitted radio scale plate. Replaced the light guide for the tuning meters with the one provided. Multipath and Other Switches:- Replaced CU01, CUO2, CUO3, CU04, CU16, CU17, CU20, CU21. Rear Panel Assembly and Wiring:- Removed all rear panel mounted components in preparation for IEC power input modification, Removed power cable and Switched / Unswitched Outlets, Marked and cut out Unswitched Outlet hole to suit IEC connector, Reassembled rear panel components and ferrite bar antenna, Re-wired / upgraded primary circuit to Australian Standard. Replaced speaker terminals with custom 3D printed assembly. Upgraded the speaker terminals. Final Assembly and Testing:- Removed, re-tightened and refit main rectifier assembly, Set Left D.C. Offset and Idle Current in accordance with Service Manual, Adjusted Voltage Regulator in accordance with Service Manual, Tested all functions, Tested all inputs and outputs, Tested Audio Power Output: 174.8 Watts RMS @ 852, Both channels driven @ 240VAC Soak Test OK — 24 Hours, Listen Test: OK. Replaced it with 3D printed, reproduction lamp housing manufactured out of heat resistant ABS plastic. 100% perfect fit and better than original one. Guest Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) Adding few more photos of the unit The rear panel and power supply has undergone some mods. 1. Removed the lean malnutritioned power cable and installed IEC socket for using better power cables. 2. Replaced speaker cable terminals with better quality ones which can fit banana plugs. ( The new terminals were bigger in size it was tuff getting it accommodated in the available space. So I have decided to remove the remote speaker terminals and use that space for the left channel new terminals. The remote speaker connection wires are kept insulated inside the unit, so that I can revert back to original if needed ) Edited July 29, 2019 by Guest

The whole restoration of my unit was done by Dallas, Clarke Audio in Melbourne. If you are from Melbourne, Rob at RV HiFi does a neat job and takes care of the vintage units well. I was not that confident to do it myself, especially when the unit is very special. Also, after replacing this light housing there will be a slight difference in the blue light shade when comparing the light from left hand side small housing even if you are using same globes and new vellum papers. I believe this is because of the difference in the reflection of light. The new case being in white colour reflects more and other small old case with age is in slightly yellowish reflects less light. So I will recommend to get the small housing painted in a similar finish. Edited January 12, 2020 by Guest
A9X Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Nice resto. I have a 2285B that is waiting in a box for retirement to do a full resto on. I have a full set of original service manuals for it. I'm putting it off until later as I've pulled apart a few vintage Marantz units and they are a lot of work, so I'd prefer to just dedicate a few days to it in a stretch. It didn't come with a wooden sleeve so I'll make one up. I've got a Fisher 800B that has been hacked up really well that will be getting the same treatment.
