Item: Musical Surroundings Phonomena II+ Phono Stage MM/MC - Black
Location: Sydney
Price: $540.00 + postage
Item Condition: Excellent
Reason for selling: NLR – don’t need four phono stages
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info:

Purchased new by me in January 2016. Comes with all original packaging and instructions.

This is an astonishingly capable phono stage that easily outperformed the inbuilt phono stage in my, now departed, $8000.00 Luxman L-507uX integrated amplifier. I kid you not! This is a highly configurable phono stage with dip switches on the back of the unit for easy changes.

This phono stage has everything the Luxman doesn’t – detail, dynamics and enough gain to drive LOMC cartridges. This can now be upgraded by adding the new Musical Surroundings Linear Charging Power Supply as an option.

One tiny scratch on the edge of the top plate where it meets the front panel – about 2-3 millimeters.

I’ve had it running with the following carts and it did so with consummate ease:

Audio Technica AT-OC9ML/II Moving Coil Cartridge;

Benz Micro Ace SL Cartridge

Hana SL MC Cartridge

This looks like a great buy.

I have been in touch with my mate @muzzagruzz to enquire about the efficacy and performance with MM carts and he is 100% good with me asking the question to any other members here who may have tried this with MM carts.

I may look at an MC carts in the future but as of now I am really happy with my Garrott P77i and my Shure V15 type V carts so any one with insights on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and also to the OP?

Hello Rantan when you go moving coil you will never go back to a moving magnet. I've never used this phono stage. But I'm pretty sure MC will sound better.

If by chance the sale falls though for any reason can you come back to me please? I've just conducted a review of several Phono pre's with a few mates from SNA and it was also amongst them and a clear winner, bad Luck I didn't see the ad yesterday but such is life.  Thank You, Ross
