wonderbean
Hi everyone. I am looking for advice on an amplifier for some psb sychrony twos (anyone with any experience with them?) A pair have come up for sale at a reasonable price but would need an amp to accommodate the 4 ohm impedance. Am I dreaming if I didn't want to spend over 500 on an amplifier? Would I be wasting the speakers with a cheap amp... Here is some info on them. http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/synchrony/Synchrony-Two Any help would be greatly appreciated! Rocky
Although I do own a pair of Synchrony two's, I am probably not in a good position to advise on amps to suit. My budget has limited the amount of gear I have been able to try out. Since buying these, I have tried a NAD 375, Arcam A28 and Luxman L507uX. The NAD was an overnight trial from a dealer but I did not like it so it went back. I purchased the Arcam A28 and ran it for a few years on the Sync's and found it an engaging pairing. It handled the load without any problems that I could detect but I never ran it flat out - living in a unit at that time. The Luxman is my current amp and I am still running the Synchrony 2's with it. I simply cannot afford the sort of money I would need to spend to upgrade these speakers. They are that good. But I should add that my room and positioning work really well - results will vary greatly with different rooms and positions within the room. Just my opinion but these speakers will reward you if you pair them with a good quality amp. If you intend to stick with the $500 budget then I would recommend you buy second hand. Enjoy the hunt. wen
nothing wrong with dreaming Tim, you would be surprised where it could lead you, you don't mention if you have a current amp, you have to remember that specifications are numbers and don't always reflect the real world, trust your own ears, like location in realestate in hifi it's Auditionx3, enjoy your journey
