Chigurh
I have a new Phono stage and it's grounding post is too thick for the spade on my TT's ground wire. The ground wire is not detachable and there is only a couple of inches of wire to play with so I don't really want to chop off the original spade. At the moment I have a single tine pushed into the hole on the post at an angle. Not very elegant! Does anyone have an "elegant" workaround like an adapter or something? First world problem, I know. wen
@Chigurh you could buy two new spades, one the same side as the original, use a small nut and bolt to connect this, cover with shrink wrap to protect bare metal, the other spade corresponding to the post on your new phono stage, you can make the wire any length between to suit placement of phono stage
Zaphod Beeblebrox
Just live with your existing solution. It's not worth the effort, assuming the connection is secure.
Monkeyboi
If your spade connector looks like this you could buy a female connector and crimp a suitable length of wire to it. A suitable female connector (albeit not specifically intended to mate with this lug) can be used if you bend the forks in slightly and with reasonable force insert it into the female connector to establish a sound connection. The female connector will need a stranded wire crimped into it. You could get away with using pliers to achieve this if you don't have access to the correct crimping tool. It's not as if you are passing Amperes of current through these connectors. The colour of the insulation on the connector determines the gauge of wire intended to be crimped into it. Cheers, Alan R.
bob_m_54
Chop off the spade terminal and solder or crimp an extension to the wire, then cover your joint with heat shrink. Remove the TT base and solder in a new ground wire. Or... as @Zaphod Beeblebrox suggests, just live with it.

One of those mini jumper leads with an alligator clip on each end. Always have some around handy.
