How do you recover deleted browser history in Edge under Win10?

Recommended Posts

Okay so the official Microsoft answer is you can't, but how do the IT experts do it?  Surely there must be a way?

Some sites suggest it can be done but seem very scant on specifics.

I tried System Restore which was one suggestion but it recovered nothing.  :(

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.  Quite prepared to pay to recover the data.

Cheers,

Alan R.

Reading stuff on it now, and surprised that the deletion has happened to some from just bumping their laptop, that's crazy!

Haven't read much but maybe it can be read from the DSN cache, or from stored cookies if still there. But the link below has some other ideas.

Couple of ways here. https://itstillworks.com/recover-deleted-internet-history-searches-5931123.html

Be careful if you try recovery software, especially if it's freeware as they are usually very hit and miss at best, and you are best not downloading it from a third party.

Sorry, I'm not much help as I have avoided using or working on Win10 (and glad I have)

No, but I had two fraudulent credit card transactions.  I suspect but can't yet prove another party who used the PC is responsible.  If it was done online and on that PC it will be easy to prove.  However the browser history has been deleted so even as logging in as an Administrator I can see the folders and their contents, but alas they deleted all their browsing history.  :(

If the PC has been used a bit after the event and especially if you have done a System Restore, then I think the data would be almost impossible to recover with any software as it most likely been overwritten by now.

Time to get a new Credit card too. :)

If sending to0 a Data Recovery Company, make sure you have been quoted the cost, then see if the cost is greater or less than what might be gained from the recovery...if successful.

How far back do you wish to view the history? If it is recent ie since the current browsing session you can as follows;

Using DNS Cache :

Go to command prompt (Windows+R & type cmd in the search bar) & type

ipconfig/displaydns

Your browsing history will be displayed.

Just found a better way. It worked fine for me. I didn't need to log in (See step 2) because I'm already logged in to my gmail account on this pc.

  1. Use Google history. I googled 'Google History'. The first link that appeared was 'Welcome to my Activity - Google'
  2. Sign in with your account details. (Maybe not needed)
  3. Now, you will be provided by a list of browsing sessions and history. On LH side you can select bundle view or Item view.
  4. Good luck
