Nice car for a woman.

A ‘67 427 4 speed corvette would be more suited for the trip you mentioned.

Yeah, well, beggars can't be choosers.

Besides, a car like that is not about the driving pleasure. It's more about image. And it has that in spades.

I’ll say it again, perfect for the discerning lady who wants to say “LOOK AT ME”!!!!

I'm thinking your mechanic must be quite trustworthy because I'd be nervous about leaving that with anybody.

Trust comes with something called insurance. ??

Which doesn't cover the young bloke taking it for a thrash or a myriad tiny annoying things you find later that degrade the perfection .

Nor does it cover the keys being left on the seat for the joyriders use, but the mechanic sure is trustworthy......

MY mechanic is brilliant. Completely trustworthy. Does really excellent work. When I dropped the car off, he was working on a late model S-Class Benz (which, in his words - "Is a piece of crap."). Another car on one of his hoists was a 327cu in, ex-Bathurst HT (I think) Monaro (over $250k, he tells me). Last time I visited, he was working on another classic Monaro (another $250k+) and a '69 Mustang, worth somewhere North of 200 Grand. Oh yeah and an absolutely and completely unmolested early model Subaru WRX. Very desirable, apparently. One woman owner, who has refused multiple offers.

Anyway, he does full book service (even rotates the tyres) on my Levorg for $150.00 less than any Subaru dealer charges. He reset all the computers in the Levorg at no charge, when I allowed the battery to go flat. It took him 15 minutes, using a $7k thingy. He's a great guy and busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking contest. He employs one senior mechanic, an apprentice and his father (a retired mechanic) comes in when things are really busy. 5 hoists. Even better, most cars are parked inside at night.

That's Trev, driving the Southern Highlands with his shirt off.

(I agree Trev, a beautiful car).

HA! Not bloody likely. I spent half an hour at the quack's today. He used half a can of liquid nitrogen on me. Damned Sun, beach and fair skin. Paying for it now. The thought of driving a convertible during the day fills me with dread.

How is that Toyota Cressida of yours going?  I hear it's a favourite amongst men from the Mesozoic era.

I found out a few years ago that I'm too old to really enjoy convertables anymore.:(

But I'd be sorely tempted by that car - it's just beautiful!  Yes, there are some American styling excesses, both inside and out.  But, to me they just give it character and enhance the appeal.

Most classic corvettes and mustangs in Oz retain their original LHD.  The RHD conversion would suit me much better.

Here's an earlier one for sale locally.  If it was the one in ZB's pics, I'd be keener.

You'd think that if they can sell old cars at those sort of prices, that they could afford to pay a builder or shopfitter to line the ceiling and walls of their showroom.

Yes, when I sold my last car with them, I was very hesitant about their shabby showroom.:winky:

The fact that they displayed my little BMW between a couple of Lamborghini Countach's made it OK with me though.

When driving the Sloper (1940Chev) i turn the heads of the women 80 plus

When driving the 57 Chev, women 50 plus.

When out in the Grp3 it is women  30 plus.

I've only ever received two appreciative looks from women, when driving. Once, when I borrowed a mate's, then new (around 10 years ago), SL500 Benz and, back in 1978, when I was driving another mate's Triumph TR6 (red, of course). In both instances, the young women almost threw themselves in front of the cars.

Oh yeah, one more time: I was driving a mate's 450SEL Benz one night. When I stopped outside a pub, I found the parking lights could be switched from one side to the other. I switched on the offside parkers. A guy and his girlfriend pulled up in a Torana in front of me. She hops out and chucks me a huge smile and wiggles her hips. Later on, I was reminded by three other people that I had left my parking lights on. Sheesh! If I had done the same thing in my Escort, I would have been ignored. Ah, the magic of that three pointed start (back in the 70s).

What's a 'Grp3', Bruce?

The only time I ever heard a comment was driving past Melbourne Girls Grammar School in the late 1990s in my Saab cabrio (with the roof down!) ... when I got a "nice car" from a couple of girls who were leaving the school gates.  :)
