Jimval Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 It must be a mistake because“The Dirty Dozen” doesn’t make the cut. 3

soundfan Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Some great movies, most of which (in my definition of a war movie) should not be there. My 3 favourites: Apocolypse Now The Thin Red Line Das Boot 3
Citroen Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 They seemed like war themed movies to me. But the top dozen or so wasn't linked for me, so no idea what they were.
betty boop Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Yes some odd choices ... Casablanca ? Pans labyrinth ? Great movies ... but best war movies ? What do we associate with war movies ? I seem to think those 1st world war and following ? i don’t see movies like braveheart, Spartacus as war movies ? Similarly English patient ? More war war setting as been mentioned
bob_m_54 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 I didn't see "Enemy at the Gates" either 1
Luc Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Battle of the Bulge! Kelly's Heroes! Yoooooooooo!(Oddball's catchcry and "Stop them negative thoughts man.") 5
agentorange Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 The usual suspects for me : Apocalypse Now Saving Private Ryan Fury ( Panzers vs Shermans , crikey that's a tough gig ) 2

mattd2308 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 A Bridge Too Far.... Had every known actor you could think of from the mid seventies. I was 10 when it came out. Big brothers must have taken me, crikey seems a bit young when I think of it. 3
crisis Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 My favorites would have to be Black Hawk Down The Odd Angry Shot Saving Private Ryan The Longest Day Mosquito Squadron 633 Squadron Reach for the sky Kellys Heroes Hacksaw Ridge (Not a movie as such but) Band of Brothers Battle of Britain Midway The Bridge at Remargen Battle of the bulge A bridge too far Full metal jacket Platoon 12 Strong Patton The Rats of Tobruk LRDG To be honest I love war films and have since I was a kid. 6

Yes I remember it well--my girlfriend at the time didn't much care for it--But I admit I did cry for the Butterfly. "Birth of a Nation" was another memorable experience--had to lie about my age to get into that one! Willco 2
