I thought the G model used a third party arm, either they down graded the arm or have they used the wrong pics, or....?

Eh, I was thinking of another model, likely costs more having the SME arm

Damn, I was completely wrong, this is a new but modded table " Timestep EVOke "

either stills means the the cheapest "audiophile" direct drive turntable you can buy ....cheaper than a brink an or vpi and that Nordic brand I can't recall the name off

Why does it not surprise me that the AU cost seems so much higher  ?

Really? Aren't we past this yet?

Because we live in a nanny state and pay some of the highest rents and wages in the world. Our "costs of doing business" are extreme.

I have a theory that ALL retail prices in Australia are set indirectly according to the price of housing. Employees want increased wages so they can buy their $$$ overpriced McMansion and employers need to increase prices to remain profitable in spite of the wages/insurance/rent. I don't see HiFi retailers dripping in money. I see customers dripping in money, but rarely the retailers themselves.

And if you want a SL1200G

Hi Dave,

Yes that’s right, Panasonic NZ and AUS don’t have the new SL-1200 series, we special order them in from Technics ourselves.

We can get an SL-1200G in within about a week – there’s usually a 1 – 2 month wait on those, but our Technics distributor have one available at the moment.  We just received one in for a another customer in NSW.  Pricing below – we can do the SL-1200G exclusive of GST due to the value.

1 x Technics SL-1200G Reference Turntable  @ $5,390 NZ (excluding GST)
1 x DHL Express Courier 21KG (1 - 3 working days) @ $250 NZ*

Total $5,640 NZD (approx $5,3000 AUD)

* Insurance is optional and cost an extra 2.5% of the value ($135).

from their website:

Installed with ORTOFON BLACK and calibrated for tone arm weight and alignment.

really??   they have a picture of the $245 Ortofon Blue, not the $800 Black.

It's calibrated with a tracking weight of 0.192 gms!!    LOL - idiots

I certainly would not trust these muppets with a turntable
