Darryl
Thanks for the heads up. I saw them with The Angels at Thebby back around 1990 I reckon. They were fantastic. For the guitar geeks out there check out the rig rundown series on YouTube. Here's one with Living Colour. The amount of stuff that Vernon has is amazing.

cazzesman
There's a movie out at the moment called 'Mortal Engines'. The gist of the movie is about how an entire country has become this gigantic engine in an apocalyptic world that roams the planet, devouring all before it. That is a Living Colour concert. They are an unstoppable force of nature. A Goliath. A beast of Musicianship and Swagger. They know after 30 years their Legacy is basically untouchable and they come on stage and just 'throw down' like a 20 year old Mike Tyson. A flurry of lightening quick, power punches and they have you submitting to their will. When the giant V12 rips into a musical frenzy it is like the Cartoon version of the 'Tassie Devil' i.e. a blur of arms and legs and musical notes that get forcibly embedded in your brain. At times you would swear the 4 of them are all playing a different song at the same time. Corey just has this questioning looking on his face that seems to say, 'Where the hell are those 3, they were here when I started this song?' But somehow they always seem to end up at the same place. Thereafter they look at each other and laugh as if to say...'That was fun lets do it again.' I think this is about the 7th time I have seen this phenomenal band live and each time they just smash you to bits. I'm in awe of their prowess. 170 Russell was hot and sweaty last night and full to the rafters. I had prime position, dead centre on the 2nd set of stairs at the back of the front floor area. Magnifico'!!!!!! 2 hours of LC is intense. They rarely let up off the peddle. Corey's vocals need to be declared the 8th wonder of the world. I stand in awe of his octave range, utter control and the out n' out power and beauty of the mans presentation. How he sings so well above the cacophony that is going on around is mind-boggling. Kudos once again to the local 170 Russell St sound man who presented a stellar sound. Corey's vocals were crystal clear all night. Vernon, Corey, Will and Doug I applaud you for the past 30 years. I will always remember the 1st time I heard 'Cult of Personality'. As a much younger man I had purchased an American Guitar magazine (Guitar Player or Guitar World) and it had an attached floppy black plastic insert. The insert was a 45 of the track from this up and coming band. I cut the insert out and put it on the turntable. I don't think I have been the same since. To see them now play that track with such conviction is a testament to their perseverance, commitment and musical talent. Long may your reign. Regards Cazzesman PS. Standing behind me during the show was a 30 something guy with his girlfriend (who was a fan and had bought him a ticket) and he was totally euphoric at the end of the show. He kept saying...'How did I not know about this band, why have they been kept such a secret?' The girlfriend and I just smiled at each other and I said.... 'You have just been indoctrinated with real music. What's your favourite Colour baby???' He screamed....'LIVING COLOUR!!!!!!' Amen Brother. Can't elaborate on that much other than to say that as a bass player it was such a treat to see Doug Wimbish in action, and even more kudos to the sound guys for treating the support acts with equal respect. I really enjoyed both of the support's sets. And they both seemed pretty excited about being part of a LC show too!
Pieface
Bugger! A band I would have dusted myself off for and got along to. Missed it by 5 days
Blk plastic
Saw them in Sydney on Saturday and they were fantastic!! The power coming off the stage was both brutal and beautiful. Corey Glover has got one of THE best rock voices going. As a band their technique is dazzling. They were clearly having a good time on stage. Top night all round. @cazzesman writes a great review.
cazzesman
I was going to do another review of Living Colour but I just thought I might as well rehash my old one. At times you would swear the 4 of them are all playing a different song at the same time. But somehow, they always seem to end up at the same place. Thereafter they look at each other and laugh as if to say...'That was fun let's do it again.' How he sings so well above the cacophony that is going on around is mind-boggling. Absolutely nothing has changed. 5 years later and they are still a THUNDEROUS and UNSTOPABLE FORCE OF NATURE. Corey just goes on like a fine wine. The other 3 just provide the Storm behind the greatest voice in rock music. No-one can touch what he does. No-one. The range, the clarity, the raw power and the sublime intonation. He has it all. I have no idea why things are like this in the world of music, but they are out on tour, to support Extreme. SUPPORT!! @#$% spare me. Extreme has done nothing in their history compared to LC. Tonight was at The Forum in Melbourne. Great venue that was sold out. Extreme should have done 40 minutes and LC 90 minutes, if there was any justice in the Music Industry. After LC left everyone speechless, Extreme came on. I lasted 2 songs. It was like listening to a wannabe garage band after LC. Gary Cherone must shake in his boots knowing he has to follow Corey every night. Corey puts on vocal Master Class and Gary sounds like a strangled cat. Long may LC carry on. Long may Corey carry the mantle of GOAT. IMHO.
