I worked with an old guy in construction, he was very fast with a comeback, very witty to the end.

One day I said-

You know, I don't reckon I would want to live much past 85

He replied-

You wont be f$%^ing thinking like that when you're 84.

On a recent trip to England, we met my father's cousin who is 93. She was quite mentally alert and apart from her failing hearing, it was easy to have an interesting conversation with her. She told us all about the things she did when she was young, and about how she used to tag along with my father and his various girlfriends when they went out. She also said how sad she was when we left England to come to Australia in 1957, because she missed out on us growing up. She said I turned out all right though, even though I wasn't as tall or good looking as my father.. hahaha.

From personal experience, you just stop caring about some things.

At my wife’s grandfather’s funeral, one of her cousins regaled a conversation he had with his grandfather, then aged 95.

grandson: "you have lived a long life, what advice do you have for me?"

grandfather: "be dead by 80"
