The weakest Chris Cunningham and Aphex Twin video. It has nothing on the legendary Come to Daddy Video:

Both men are geniuses but their work can at times be totally inaccessible and occasionally mediocre (sometimes I get the feeling they are trying too hard).

Don't know about you Jake, but I really enjoyed it! :(

Me too :)

Brilliant brilliant briiilliant video!! Along with Rabbit Headlights as discussed in the other vid thread :-) Seen any other cool ones recently? Got me a biig tv and keen to watch some cool music vids.. prob is not many are recorded in HD. Btw watching Heima got me into Sigur Ros, amazing visuals and music.

Any Aphex Twin you can recommend? Stuff I have is his selected ambient works which I read big wraps about, but admittedly I haven't really listened to it properly yet but flcking thru seemed pretty boring.

If you have a computer connected to your TV check out www.vimeo.com

It's like YouTube but supports higher definition audio and video. The video uploaders also tend to make better films on average. YouTube is filled with videos of guys getting hit in the balls whereas Vimeo is mostly used to host serious short films.

Especially checkout the HD channel which features lots of good HD stuff including the occasional music video.

Here are a few examples:

BIRDY NAM NAM - THE PARACHUTE ENDING

Fujiya & Miyagi 'Ankle Injuries' (Non-HD but still amazing)

Grizzly Bear - Twoo Weeks (fan video)

As far as something you can buy, I would recommend:

Collected Director's Series (also available locally, I got my copy at JB). There is also a 2nd set of new volumes that I haven't checked out yet.

Massive Attack - Collected (all of Massive Attack's clips which are pretty impressive).

All of the videos by the band Tool are also visionary. I don't know if they are available to purchase on a single disc though (youtube might be the best bet here).

I went the plasma + PS3 route, I need to connect up a HTPC one day.

Lol Idiocracy was on TV last night .. Ow My Balls!

Very very cool site, thanks. How did you find it?

All 3 are amazing, that fan vid is awesome.

Hellz YEAH!

Are You Gonna Go My Way was one of my fav vids. The song and vid (especially the drummer) made me think of a modern Gloria by Hendrix. I remember Madonna's Rain was very good too, with with a scene of her falling and exploding into a murder of crows (luv that term)?

Malkovich and Spotless Minds are two brilliant movies too. Gonna have to grab both of those.. pity they don't have their complete music vid collections though. How much are they here?

Yep, I have all of both :) Watching the Vicarious documentary they talk to Alex Grey who does some insane artwork first saw at the end of the Parabol vid with the eyes and see thru skeleton (very similar to what we had in the ol' World Book encyclopedia when were were kids), amazing stuff and going to see if I can buy a print/poster.

Idiocracy and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are coincidentally two of my favourite movies.

I followed a couple of links to music videos to Vimeo form a music blog and thought it looked a bit nifty so did some exploring and then ended up watching a fair amount of clips on it.

Alex Grey is an amazing artist. I can highly recommend grabbing his CoSM (Chapel of Sacred Mirrors) DVD if you are into his art. He talks a lot about his influences in the art, which are obviously based heavily on drugs/psychedelics. However there is also a lot of detail and extra and additional depth of meaning to his paintings both on the personal and spiritual level and this is mostly what he describes. So if you can put up with someone talking about drugs for a little bit without writing them off as a total nutjob there is a lot of extra meat to the documentary after that point.

I have a signed poster (would love to upgrade it to a ltd edition print in the future) of his Wonder painting at home which you've just reminded me that I still need to get framed.

I passed on Sunshine at first because of Jim Carrey, his comedies are classic but I didn't know about a real dramatic role, wondered if I could take him seriously.. Bumblebee Tuna! ..then for whatever reason watched it later and it was brilliant.

Yep Idiocracy is a scary indictment indicator on where we may be heading. In a Whirlpool discussion on Transformers 2 my tagline for Transformers 3 was Ow my decepticon balls! Check out Bill Hicks and Bill Maher's stuff too, Religulous is a must see for everyone imo.

Now I have my TV am looking for new movies and working my way through these lists at the moment..

The 10 Most Visually Stunning Movies of the Last 10 Years

Amazon.com: Movies with great use of color

Another two I am looking at next are Ink and Silent Hill.

Any movies you recommend?

Here are a few..

Action - Kung Fu Hustle & District B13 & Equilibrium

Style - Avalon & Ghost in the Shell (anime but same director)

Leon aka The Professional

Primer

Stir of Echoes

Can you share the music blog? Sounds like we have similar tastes.

Yep amazing artwork, I will check out the dvd for sure. There was a bit of a look around it during the Tool doco.

A signed poster.. very cool. An awesome poster too, how did that happen?
