caminperth Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Hi all - a thread to show off your ride and possibly share routes with locals. I’ll kick things off.. Willier Centro 1 Superleggara Dura Ace Di2 Garmin power pod Fulcrum Racing Zero KMC Gold chain for bling.. 2
Rustee Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 This is my 2015 Santa Cruz Tallboy 2 CC. It was my 40th birthday pressie and a complete custom build - mainly because it's fun to put a fresh bike together! Mainly ride Mt Keira and Mt Kembla trails but do venture out to Wingello, Nowra, Canberra when time permits. 5

Apparently rocks at over 75km/hr will leave a mark... 2
Monty Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 This is my old faithful. 2001 Marin Eldridge Grade. Kind of quaint with its cro-mo frame, 26” wheels and V-brakes, but still a lovely bike and just fine for my neither hard nor far utility rides. 3

caminperth Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Seems this thread needs a restart so I'll kick off with the replacement Canyon.. SRAM etap for the win... Still to remove the noobie disc on the back wheel.. 5

wasabijim Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 cheers steel is real... i had a steel NS Surge prior - bright Tonka tough yellow (just like the cool kids had in the 80's) this bad boy is a keeper. loving the UK approach to geo and Ti combo plus the modern interfaces. many Ti frames I looked at where often 5-10yrs behind the times: steep boxy angles, QR axles, designed for old XC chaps

wasabijim Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 indeed - every ride should end in beers or tears!! digging your stealth Bruce Wayne edition of that Canyon, did similar approach to my other MT bike but with white mavic wheels (see if i can find pick some place)

My next road bike will be etap equipped and I'm hoping to have completely hidden cables. The new Cannondale and BMC aero bikes have caught my attention at the TdF... Don't those Canyons ship pretty much fully assembled? Good idea to keep the plastic plate on for a few rides. My best mate had a bike built for him and first ride the chain came off the top cog and destroyed a wheel and rear derailleur. Builder said it was user error and refused to take responsibility. No wonder he has since closed his doors.

It's currently got a 36 and I want to move to a 34 - however looks like I might have to go with swapping the larger ring to a 50 as well to get it to work properly. Hopefully not.

It pairs with the Wahoo Element Bolt (which I would also highly recommend) and you can get info on gear usage. Possibly pointless data - but pretty cool all the same. Always loved BMC's till I had a frame fail on me. However that was quite a few years ago. The canyon came pretty much done. All I had to do was put the wheels, pedals, seat post and handlebars on. Took all of 10 mins. Just remember to remove the brake pad spacers before trying to force the wheels in!

I think you still need to micro adjust eTap. Have had friends say their the rim brake version would need adjustment every so often. Does eTap sync with Garmin too? I know Di2 does.

Ok - I'll have to do some reading up on how to do that then. I thought they were self adjusting as my first real ride on the bike ended up going through roadworks for about 3km - caked the rear mech in mud. Skipped a little then seemed to re-align and get on with it. The rain washed off most of it by the end of the ride.. Not sure on the Garmin - I've given up on them since my 1000 became a brick. Either a broken charge port or software - can't power it up to find out. I think the Di2 needs a special transmitter to allow connection to it? The Wahoo setup through the phone has been awesome! Simple and painless.
