There is a review in this months [June 2018] HiFi News and Record review of the Technics SL-1000R TT ...Air Frieghted copies are available at some news agencies now.

Seems the price might be higher than originally quoted, as they have it listed in the mag as £20k, but that is fitted with the as tested Technics arm, which is a slightly longer and higher spece'd version of the arm fitted to the SL-1200G.

Interesting to find out that there are 4 different torque settings the owner can adjust, and rotational speed can be set with two decimal places of +/- 16%

Interesting new after market plinth by renown Acoustand in the UK.   Quite a bit more expensive than what he has ever done, but quite a bit cheaper than the Technics plinth where you have to buy the tonearm.  Even fits the SP10mk2 and 3.

summary:

Quote

I’m not one for the purple prose of audio reviews.  Sorry to let you down.  However, I doubt my subjective observations bear much relevance to anyone else.  I will say I could happily live with a 10R as my one ‘table.  Shiny, new, warranty, and performs great.  What’s not to like?

Would I trade a MK3 for a 10R?  Not a chance.  While objective measurements of the 10R are the slightest bit better than the MK3, I think the MK3 is a higher-caliber unit.  Beefier components, better machining, and better industrial design; even if the control unit is dated.  It’s a brute.

Then sell me your "spare" Raven...:)

I don't need one - I have a SP10-mk3  :D

Cliff  - pm if you want to buy the Raven  -  that may fund the SP-10R  :emot-bang:

Very nice and with the famous lead console plinth.   How does it perform compared to the other tables?

Extremely quiet and dynamic sound very happy. Each turntable set up different sound spirits   which I like them all
