darthlaker Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Hmmmm....somehow I don't think so...!
adrocks Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Hi Mark How are the new Vandersteens settling in. A few pictures and some raptourous accolades of how good they they sound would be nice to see. And Hah Hah, sure I can remember someone saying they would never join the darkside and get a turntable. How fickle we are. Still, knew you would come round and see the light in the end. cheers, Adam
darthlaker Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Hi Adam, Should have them this week! Pix to come soon! The light of the dark indeed!
Lazz Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Hi Mark give me a yell if ya need help with the unboxing.Lazz.

darthlaker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 You are more than welcome to pop over though....an extra set of hands may come in....handy! I still can't lift much because of my knee surgery... Please pop me a PM with your number.....
Grumpy Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Now the important question Mark - What will be the first record purchased and played on the new TT?
darthlaker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Very good question Grump. I only had a few records when I was Darth Junior......they were sold some years ago.... About a month ago I bought the download of Trent Reznor's How to Destroy Angels EP and you had to purchase the record to get the high rez download so at the moment that's the only record I have (!) I also ordered the deluxe box set of Trent Reznor's soundtrack to the brilliant "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" movie. It comes with a high rez USB and records. Would like to hope the first record I spin is the upcoming Analog Productions re-mastered 200g (and done properly by Doug Sax this time) seminal album by Shelby Lynn, Just a Little Lovin' (coming out on SACD as well....). As Shelby said in an interview, "You can't roll a joint on an iPod"..... I've got quite a list of records to buy but only buying my fave of faves......
darthlaker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 :o Good things come to those who wait!
Guest Muon Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Congrats mate, that's a very nice looking deck! :o

darthlaker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks df! Always welcome Battty Man...
mattjtaylor2809 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi Darth, I've been missing in action as we've been pulling the new holiday house together up in Pt Hughes but have just been catching up on some posts & noticed that one of your 1st records on your purchase list is the "seminal album by Shelby Lynn, Just a Little Lovin". Pls let me know when/where you're buying this as I may also want a copy. Following our "all too short" listen sess & your's last year I listen to this CD quite a bit & I'm thinking a 200gr vinyl version would sound sweet in deed! Will try & come along to the next GTG & catch up. Look after your bung knee & all the best for the new toys.. Matt
darthlaker Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Hi Matt, Hope the holiday house construction is going well? Will let you know when I order the LP. Will probably order from the US. I'm sure we could work something out on the postage. Fremer (Stereophile) gave it 11/10 for sound !!! http://www.musicangle.com/album.php?id=647 Catch up soon and knee is getting there very slowly...the toys will help!!
mikizee Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Iiiiinteresting... put me down for a copy as well.
mattjtaylor2809 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks Darth, pls let me know costs etc. & hope to catch up soon.
GregWormald Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 More?!I don't even like to check the air in my car tyres...... Better take the straight jacket into the dry cleaners tomorrow...... And the newest Michelin tyres don't have any air in them (except between the struts.) Greg
darthlaker Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Gotta check 'em out! Although I'm not as bad as a friend of mine (the fact that she is blonde is not the point!)......her engine died and when asked about what happened she said a little red oil can light went on and she didn't know why and kept driving it......you can guess the rest!
Benje Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Is that plane arriving today? Exciting times. On a lesser note, my surround speakers (in-ceiling niles) are about to be replaced this morning with a pair of vaf icon 195's located in-ceiling - not too disimilar to my soundwall front/left/right in actual speaker. Although the dedicated stereo listeners here on SNA will probably never hear them ( ). I am hoping for a small improvement in frequency response and volume matching, before audyssey correction. Currently, the Niles are much louder (+5db) and dip at around 120 to 150hz, resulting in more of the surround going through the subs. We will see where we finish. Remember to take a photo or three today Darth.
darthlaker Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Hi Benje, Unfortunately today isn't the day....should be tomorrow though..... The wait is killing me! Well done with your new babies. Should be a great match all around now......
Darryl Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Gotta check 'em out!Although I'm not as bad as a friend of mine (the fact that she is blonde is not the point!)......her engine died and when asked about what happened she said a little red oil can light went on and she didn't know why and kept driving it......you can guess the rest! "Your check engine light is on." For the Big Bang Theory fans amongst us!! Once you're all settled in DL I wouldn't mind having a listen to the new speakers if that's OK?. Cheers, Darryl.
