Looking to get a new flat screen TV.

Looking to spend anything up to 2000 but would prefer under if possible.

Looking for 40-46 inch and no real preference for LCD, LED, or Plasma.

What brands/models should I be looking at for the best value.

Do you have a bright room? Normal light or dark room?

What will you be watching mostly on the TV? (FTA, Foxtel, Blu-Ray, DVD, Gaming?)

I wouldn't say my room is light. There is some natural sunlight but not direct.

I am looking to watch tv, some DVDs but mostly to connect a pc to watch digital movies sd and hd

No foxtel.

I'd go for the 46EX500 they seem to be going for a good price these days (~1700) and it comes with a PS3 which you could sell if you didn't want it

For price alone; it'd be hard to beat the current price (with free delivery) on a Telefunken (Samsung panel) 107cm (42inch) High Definition Plasma TV with Built-In HD DVBT Tuner and Video Recording via USB connection. Of course if resolution of 1024 x 768 is TOO low for your requirements then this one isn't suitable for you.

That panel is in today's price lists from oo.com.au, at $659.95

You can save a bit more paying through PayPal (cash back) but that may be for Today only.

That's the catalogue price. You'll need to shut down the PC and wander into a store if you want to save a few more $ :)

Around that price after negotiating and signing up for a credit card for $198.

Of course going in will get a better price. After reading whirpool and other forums there are not many getting sales below $1800

Hi,

Here's my imput on this one.

A couple of months ago I got a 46inch LCD by Schaub Lorenz. It had the best picture I could find for the money. I run Foxtel IQ2 which is HD and the HD programs are amazing. Excellent blacks and excellent sound.

Do your self a favour and go and have a look at one.

I got if for $1750 from Challenge Hifi here in Adelaide. There are a number of retailers that stock this brand (mostly specialist stores).

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi I am new to the forum and jumped on this thread because I am unable to create a new topic, so my apologies to the creator of this thread.

In my opinion the G10 is a good choice. Im also looking for a G10 or S20. I've written down in my note book that in some previous thread some1 claimed to have bargained a 50" G10 down to $1270, there was no receipt posted. I am very interested in the cheapest price you manage to find. I'm hoping to get a 42" G10 for under $1000, but I might be dreaming? I'll consider the newer generation S20 if it's around the same price as the G10, or if there is some valuable promotion. My understanding is that the G10 is very similar to the newer generation S20, less some power savings.

Well really depends on you room size having a small room and putting a 46inch Tv in it imo would be over kill. So if you have an average size room I would really suggest going with a 46inch as it really does make a difference :P

I dont think you should worry about LED since the cost is way more than your buget.

For a 46inch probably look at the Samsung 46inch LA46c650 or a Sony KDL46EX500. A Panasonic Plasma would also be quite good. If you really wanted you could go with a 50inch V10a which i think can be had from prices Between 1900-2000.

There is another thread where a poster scored a 55EX500 for $2099 including extended warranty and hdmi cable...If space isnt an issue than a upgrading a 46inch to a 55 for that price would be the way to go i reckon

myer parramatta

I reckon u can get it for 1600. I bargained over the phone for my brother and was able to get 1650

What is the chance of getting a copy of the reciept?

Was ther any warranty or extras in that?
