nickows Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I watched this BR tonight, and while it was worth the rental I found the darker scenes (and there are plenty of them) quite distracting because of the loss of detail (very digitised, black crush maybe? - im not too sure on the technical term for it). Ive read a couple of reviews and most give the disc an above average rating for picture. Maybe my projector couldnt handle the darker scenes? Maybe it was the director's intention? On my setup it looked awful at times. Id be interested to hear others' thoughts if youve viewed the BR.
XxDeadlyxX Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Dark scenes in some movies are weird - sometimes dark shadows can look purple - ie. Outlander.
ajm1503559545 Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 That would depend on the display wouldn't it? I know the LCD projectors I've owned really struggled with black and shadow detail - the panasonic AE700 looked more purple than black, as XxDeadlyxX described. I'm still waiting on my copy of The Road from Amazon US store. When it get's here I'll let you know what I reckon as well.
