Hi there, i am keen to buy a samsung bluray HT mainly cos i want it to work on my existing remote.

I want one that can also playback stuff from PCs on my wired network. I know that the two models i am looking at playback mkv and avi which is nice, but do they playback DVD/video_ts folders and ISO ? I have ripped my original media to NAS cos its easier to use as an online library...but need to be able to play them back :)

If the samsung ones dont do this whats the next best system if i have to go to an extra remote?

I don't think the sammy will play back ts/iso folders. Person I would recommend a Popcorn Hour 200 Series which will also do BD M2TS and HD audio, but there are many options to choose from eg wd live, netgear EVAs, orginal xbox running xbmc, HDI Dune that is also a PVR/BD player all in 1 and will do HD, etc, etc

To solve the 1 remote issue just grab yourself a decent universal remote.

Ta. I was hoping to just buy the samsung and use it. But if i have to build my own solution it takes more time and money :( But if there i no other way...

I will start looking at some of those players. I have been XBMC and XBOX1 for 8 or 9 years (it was XBMP back then) and to be honest it still meets my needs aside from lack of bluray/mkv playback due to lack of horse power.

Looks like HTPC is going to the nest best option to play back absolutely everything using XBMC? Mac Min would be awesome, but no BR player yet. Something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ASRock-ION-330-Mini...=item563c32d671

Do any of the modern off the shelf devices, eg wd tv, play back everything like a HTPC with XBMC or can have XBMC installed?

Have a look at this thread if really want XBMC but there is also other(will edit with linky later) jukeboxes available on the Popcorn, plus the new standard, coming soon, Rich UI looks not too bad

When I looked for mine, the Popcorn was the best option (for me) I have lots of BDs and obviously getting more, plus it will bitstream HD audio and I liked the jukebox options (I use AEON)
