Ryan1503559697 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Dropped in to JB and couldn't see it so asked the assistant, she went out back and came back......... $38.99 looked at her and just laughed, she said yeah I know but it should be cheaper in a week or so.Looks like they are trying to sting those who want it asap when they know they're overpriced Cheers LOL i thought the same thing when i saw it instore last week,Armageddon was a simliar price and then dropped to $19.98 so hopefully WOTW does the same as i would grab it for $20 for sure.........$15 would be better though Edited August 9, 2010 by Ryan

I watched Star Trek at 0db the other night and it was awesome. That was the first time I had gone to 0db for a whole film as I normally didn't go higher than -5db with my old AVR. SimonNo10 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Have to agree with you Al some really powerful bass in this movie. When I had the SVS B4+ and listened to the dvd it was incredible but just picked up the BD for the weekend gone and tried it with the Submersive and my god some of the best bass in any movie I've heard. The lighting strikes were very realistic but the bridge explosion...holy crap. As expected the tripod imerging and the slam of it's leg when it lands on the car was just amazing. It just gets better as the movie progresses and really surprises you if your not expecting it. One to demo for sure if someone has never heard HT before or just to show off your sub.

Love that scene.
jutta Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Any difference between the USA and UK releases of WotW?? I'll have a squiz around the net tonight when I get home but a heads up would be great.

There doesn't appear to be any significant differences on spec between US and EU versions... http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=16353
MACCA350 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hey guys check this out. Comparison of the LFE channel at 00:24:38 of the DTS-DHMA(Top) from the Blu-ray, DTS(Middle) and Dolby Digital(Bottom) from the DVD Pic That DTS-HDMA one almost looks like a square wave anyone pop a sub yet cheers

MACCA350 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 definitely some awesome bass on wotw ! hehe though it more looks like artifically clipped ? Certainly does Al, luckily the whole track isn't that bad. In some LFE areas the HDMA waveform is improved over the DTS, ie less clipping and more fluid waveform. It seems they ran it through some processing to fix the clipping but it certainly didn't work on that particular scene it made it far worse. Even though the clip detector shows little clipping in that scene of the HDMA track, it would be by far the most dangerous on subwoofers. Subs just aren't built to replicate square waves at high volume. It really surprised me seeing that in the track, I was skimming through and near chocked when I saw it, felt like yelling out "NOOOOOOOOO!" Cheers
MACCA350 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Btw the HDMA track never reaches 0dBFS, which is where digital clipping occurs, they seem to have dropped levels by 0.1dBFS. Problem is clipping is still there it's just at -0.1dBFS. I've seen similar, TRON DTS-HDMA main channels are clipping heavily at -2.0dBFS yet the LFE channel never clips and uses the full scale(maxes out at -0.275dBFS). Cheers

Cheers hi macca, yes looking at it as waveform vs the dts definitely apparent. it does look A typical clipping which is horendous for killing speakers. just usually its when amps run out of puff ! you dont expect it to come from source material yeah good pick up. have to be carefull with that one. War of the worlds does have some awesome bass though so very tempting as demo material
Eth Nick Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Recently watched this again. One of my all-time faves now. That lightning/audio as a whole!
