Hi folks,

My first preference is to purchase local releases for DVD and Blu-ray, but there may be exceptions.

The Matrix 10th Anniversary Blu-ray is available in the US as a digibook or in an Amaray case. As I despise digibooks I'd like the US Amaray version. Does anyone know if there are ANY differences whatsoever between the 2 versions?

Any differences between the US and AUS releases?

Does the AUS release have all the extras in 480P or 576P?

I get the impression that all Blu-ray releases are the same now. ie: 1080P movie with 480P (SD) or HD extras.

Does PAL even exist on Blu-ray?

Thank you.

You can check here for a bit of information, although it does not include UK or AUS details.

I should imagine the UK is similar to the Dutch version.

Check in-store for the details on the AUS release cover: this should give you enough to see whether it is similar to the USA or UK release.

Whilst the main feature of most movies these days tends to be standardised to 1080p24, there are some exceptions. However, extras can still be in 576i50 or 480i60 (or 576p25 or 480p30) and therefore bear the legacy of PAL and NTSC.

Sony tends to release 24p and 480i60 worldwide, but other studios seem to have variants in different countries.

Unfortunately all titles need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis as there are few generalities.

I have the US digibook by preference. The booklet section is great and they are super thin for storage. Why the hate of the digibook? I always buy them by choice if available.

I like my collection to be unified.

All of my other Blu-rays are Amaray's and I dislike the idea of one Digibook sticking out like a big toe. Plus, I dislike the relatively fragile cardboard Digibook and prefer the artwork contained in a durable Amaray, which can be replaced at any time. If the Digibook is marked or wears, it's permanent.

I've seen the back cover of the local release. It appears to have identical features, but it's a sheet of paper over the actual back cover, I can't see what resolution the extras are.

Plus, I've seen on some sites that the US Amaray version is a 2-disc set with Digital Copy. Can anyone confirm this?

Could someone pretty please tell me if the extras on the Australian release are 480p (NTSC) or 576p (PAL)?

If they're NTSC, I'll get the US release for the Amaray case, if they are in fact PAL, I'll live with the Digibook and get the local release for the extra resolution.

Thanks in advance? :)

Thank you.

I figured that was the case. Wasn't 100% sure though.
