ViVa Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Hi, I would just wondering if you could shared any good deals you may have received: a. If you are an existing customer on IQ1 and want IQ2? b. If you are an existing customer without IQ1 and want IQ1? c. If you are an existing customer without IQ1 and want IQ2? d. If you are a new customer and want IQ2 (makes sense)? Please do mention if you had to get into any new contracts or were allowed to stay out of a contract especially with IQ2 upgrades! Thanks!

Thanks! d) called up today an spoke to a friendly guy who was more than willing to help out, he initially offered $200 install (which they now call an upgrade fee) as it states on their website installation is free 12months IQ2 for free 12months free HD explore package free. didnt really wanna fork out the $200 initial free, so tired to get that cut back to $100 with all of the above still in tact, but they didnt wanna budge at all. so in the end comprised and was offerd this deal which i signed up for $100 upgrade free (formally known as installation) 12months free IQ2 6 months free HD explore package free. in the end it works out exactly the same value, just that we dont have to layout an extra $100 at the start of it. All in all im happy as Larry as im currently with optus and will finally be making the switch. My decision was made uo to switch when Optus sent a letter to say their prices were going up and we could cancel anytime without disconnection fee (which we have 5 more months of). Install date early Jan so happy with that as well.
ToddG Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I rang and played hardball and threated to leave foxtel so they Did a $100 upgrade to IQ2 Did a free relocation of my IQ in another room and are giving me that for free for 12 months. So basically I paid $100 for the upgrade, I pay $10 a month for IQ2, but have an IQ1 which I dont pay a cent for and have foxtel in a second room that I dont pay a cent for. for 12 months also.

I got (d.) around a month ago, shortly after the "not so silly sale" started... made an enquiry over the phone, thought it was a good deal, and placed the order. Ended up with: Not so silly sale standard features: $200 IQ2 one-time fee Free 12 months rental Free installation Added bonus: 6 months free rental on HD channels Reading the above post though, Schumi5 has got a better deal though. Good on ya...

UberSpaz Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I am after HD+ and after reading your posts was quietley confident of recieving something similar. I tried a quick call to see what i can get and how soon i could get it installed. Best offer i recieved was $200 install/upgrade and $10 a month for the box, so pretty much nothing close to what you guys are getting. i didnt really push i just asked if there was a way to get the upgrade fee down a little. Was also told that mid-jan was the earliest install period. do you guys have any tips for getting the most out of the salesperson?
danish79 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hi New customer, signed up with Foxtel directly. - 12 month direct debit contract - Free installation - $100 up-front IQ2 fee - Free IQ2 for 12 months - Free all HD channels for 7 months - Free platinum package first month Judging how feeble Foxtel usually are at offering deals, I didn't think that was too bad. The sales guy told me the key is to speak with someone from the outbound division of their call centre, not just the usual plebs in the inbound team. I did this by calling after-hours and leaving a message. They called me back next day. First spoke to them on (approx) 8 December, installed 17 December. ACT. Watched my first HD EPL game yesterday, pretty sweet

Dont ring the upgrade line, you ring their disconnection line and tell them that you want to leave !!! I ring and the girl I spoke to said yep we will organise that and I was disappointed that I wasnt even offered anything to stay at first. Then about 3 days later I got the how can we keep you phone call. This is when I bartered and got half price upgrade free second installation etc. They think that they kept me as a foxtel customer, but the truth is I was always going to a remain a foxtel customer I just did it as a hoax to get a better deal.

It seems to depend on who you talk to. I have been with Telstra for years but they wouldn't bargain at all to upgrade to IQ2 so I rang the sales team at Foxtel - I quoted some of the deals others here have posted about and after a check with her manager, the rep said they would give me half price upgrade fee ($100), free use of IQ2 (and IQ) for 12 months and 7 months free HD channels. So bye bye Foxtel through Telstra; hello Foxtel direct.

Watched my first HD EPL game yesterday, pretty sweet When I rang foxtel yesterday to have it re-installed (I had it 2 yrs ago so have already got the sat dish/phone line near the tv), the best they offered was just the $200 standard IQ2 'fee', 7 months free HD channels and free multi-room installation (I'm getting IQ1 in second room). I will try again, as $100 install fee and free IQ2 for 12 months seems like the best deal going....have others managed to get this? Edited January 9, 2009 by gavstar1
kandiman Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I'm an existing customer and do agree that speaking to the "disconnection team" is the smart move. The best deal for me was just match the JB-Hifi Deal, what i got was: -$100 off install, -IQ2 Rental $5 -7 months free HD complete package not really free if you ask me because 7months x $15 = $105 which equals to the discount of the installation, really just paying for the HD complete in advance. Initially they offered me this for the existing customer: they will match the JB deal and add a free IQ box for multiroom, i don't need that Aaah well IQ2 is better than my fox digital old 1st generation pace box lolz How did you get the Free IQ2 rental for 12 months??? i wish they offered me that too :angry2:

I recently got rid of Foxtel and they rang me and said what can we do to get you back and i said Platinum package at 50% off and ill come back,he laughed and said no way i said well you asked Anyway he offered the package i was previously on which was around $75 per month he said he would throw in the movie package i had for free so that brought it back to $55 or $57 i carnt remember and i asked about IQ1 and he said for free but would have to pay $10 per month bringing it to around $66 a month on no contract just month to month. Im still not sure what ill do at this stage,im going to ring them tomorrow and let them know, some of you guys have been getting some pretty good deals in my opinion.I know at the most i would go another 12 month contract but not 24. asdsa Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Apparently the deal for half price install and half price IQ2 service fee ended on the 27th of December, i don't know who was allegible because i have platinum, IQ1 and multiroom.

The regular non-cancelling phone folks are pretty inflexible on the $200. I spoke to a new person who was much more helpful. She said, to qualify for the JB deal you have to go to a JB store and get a 'invitation card' (I'd say the sales kid gets a commission). I've got a JB nearby so I'll go visit them tomorrow. I'm not going to call and threaten to cancel just yet... they might call my bluff
