Hi I'm thinking about getting a new TV before the prices increase, which will be used mainly for gaming 50%, Bluray / Hd-Dvd /Dvd 25% and watching footy and racing 25%. Ive been reading these forums a hell of a lot lately and seem to be getting more confused about which one to get. I need the help and knowledge of the community. My budget is $2000 - $2500 max.

Ive search the forums but the info was a little old. Thanks for your help, in advance.

I have a similar dilemma. I'm trying to decide between a Panasonic 46pz800a or a Samsung LA46A650.

The Samsung uses half as much power, does 1080P over Component, no fear of pausing during game play.

The Panasonic has better shadow detail, has better speakers, better viewing angle, although it might suffer from phosphor trails and I would be scared to pause it during game play.

I use a 46" Sammy for my gaming with my 360 and ps3.

I find that my Sammy while a pretty reasonable panel does suffer from slight motion artifacting while horizontally panning across the screen. This also occurs during BD and DVD playback, and no it is not caused by the quality of the HDMI cable that I am using as I have tried a number of them and still get the same result. That said, it is quite adequate a panel for gaming IMO.

Cheers.

Had a look at the la46a650 today and it is very nice. Also saw the Lg 47lg70yd which also looked pretty good. Both have bonuses through redemption, the Samsung has a bluray player and the Lg had a 26" lcd. Recently read a forum saying that the Samsung has a bit of lag for gaming, but that was in a panasonic topic so I dont know. Has anyone who has one experience this lag or not?

Got a pretty good price on the samsung $2600 with 5 year warranty if I want it.

I purchased the Panasonic T-46PZ800A last week. I did a lot of research. I got it for $2,200 at Bing Lee including delivery. Plus the free Wii.

We moved from a Phillips 76 cm Wide screen CRT, which had a very good picture quality. The kids use it for games now.

I looked at the Samsung 650 but the colours on the Panasonic were better, especially skin tones and black. The thing that got me was price.

My advice is look at both in the shop. Get the staff to play the same content on both and judge for yourself. Eyes are very different from person to person. You are the best judge of what you like.

I have a Topfieild 7100 PVR attached and a Logitech Harmony 785 to control it all. No issues so far. I also have an old Sony 5 disc DVD player and DVD/VCR player attached via a Sony receiver. The Panasonic seems to handle SD OK. The next purchase is definately a Blue Ray Player.
