Well here goes ! the big bad denon universal is out the bag ! well some info on it anyways

It's exactely the same that I saw. There is no too much to translate that I didn't said in my previous thread.

Some point need to be noticed:

- Internal DTS-Neo6 and DoblyProIIx intern which is very very nice if you want to use analog.

- no 24p output for DVD

- As I said it's the same video processing than the BD-3800, except that they include a DVDO scaller for the component output (1080i)

- the remote controler looks like crap. I thought it was a prototype at the last press conference but no, it's the final one

- It's Denon link 4th gen, jitter free. Upgrade will be available for the AVP-A1HD and the AVC-A1HD (The high end Pre/Pro and the high end Surround) to be compatible (unknown date). Further model should have it.

- Marketing told me that it was dual diff on every channel but I kind of doubt about it now.

- BD-live not yet, it will be available in a further firmware

- no intern Clock controller like on the SX serie (SACD player) -> Jitter free for Denon Link

- No Hi-Bit colour upconvertion like Sony or Pioneer, however the REALTA works with 10bits from the 8bits source so there may be a 8->10bits conversion somewhere and output 10 bits deep colour on HDMI.

I will check more the info but the internal DoblyProIIx is a very good news for analog people with 7 speaker. As Denon said at their last presentation, they focused on audio, Pioneer focused on video

I was somewhat excited until I saw this photo...look at the size of the fan! Have I mentioned fan noise is one of my pet hates.

It was mentioned at one stage [when hd dvd was alive] Hakka ; but was dropped for complexity and cost iirc reasons .

Yes I hate fans as well HOWEVER the bigger size could mean it rotates slower & so is quieter. A moot point for me however as it will be way outside my budget.

hi spero, as per rab from cavs note on their website, its not for our market jsut yet, I suspect for this very reason.

It says source direct down the bottom Macca ; if it means the same as pio's must mean 1080p/24 . I think maybe the 1080p upscaling line is just an interim statement ; the pana bd35 can do sd 1080p/24 I believe ; for the price Ide want the realta to put out custom resolutions

I agree, I think Denon has too much competition in the Blu ray market ive gotta a feeling that there prices of the players are going to keep them out of the game.

Spoke to my dealer today, was told yes, there is something coming from Denon for BD but it will be very expensive (which to me means it has to be the DVD-A1UD). Once I get more info I'll post.

there is a thread in the Blu-Ray section (posted by Franin) about the arrival of some denon BD players soon.

It's coming according to APA. March 20th $7999 RRP. If it can be made Region free for both DVD and Blu-Ray I'll consider it

It gives a better grasp on how the DL4 works Al ; reads to me its pqls jitter control for all forms of pcm including decoded dvd audio/sacd . I liked the jibe about pio's 2ch cd jitter control ; the new 23fd does similar for multichannel as well .

When you bitstream its all a bit academic this jitter question anyway .The bit I noticed was this;

Rules out the current pana based players ; something without the analog outs would be great..
