heyskip Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi all,I currently have a ps3 and a wii with the price drop of the xbox 360 i am very tempted to get one also i dont really "NEED" one but i do "WANT" one lol. I do have the cash to get one so is it worth getting one?????? My vote would be yes. I have both PS3 and XBOX 360 and the 360 gets ALOT more use than the Sony.
admeister Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I was in the same position as you until earlier this year, but decided to get a 360 since there were enough games that I wanted to get for it to justify a purchase. I say go for it, I use mine just as much, if not more than my PS3. The Wii sits there a lot of the time, unfortunately..
Michael_G Posted December 3, 2008 Author Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks guys im very tempted to get one Yes my wii also gets very little use now i regret buying it got bored of it very quicky
the_wonderchild Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 If you are into the online aspect of things (and don't mind the 'subscription' fee), i think it's a no brainer. Some very good recent releases strengthen the argument for a purchase; sorry i realise this doesn't help your wallet, but hey, if you say you can afford it, go for it.
mcduck Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 buy it, you know you want to helps keep the economy going too i really can't do it all on my own
Abaddon Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Ive got all 3 and a high-end gaming PC. Each of the systems have their must owns. I say go for it!
TechWizNot Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi all,I currently have a ps3 and a wii with the price drop of the xbox 360 i am very tempted to get one also i dont really "NEED" one but i do "WANT" one lol. I do have the cash to get one so is it worth getting one?????? I have two of both, one lot in the HT room, the other lot in the doghouse ( for when the missus gets cranky). Go get it.
palmag Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I have both the PS3 and X360 and they are great!, you wont regret it if you go down that path. I do get a lot more online use out of the PS3 since its free, I don't have Xbox live gold yet.
Sabor Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I currently have a ps3 and a wii with the price drop of the xbox 360 i am very tempted to get one also i dont really "NEED" one but i do "WANT" one lol. Of course you need it not just want it Am very happy when exclusives come out on one or the other instead of that begrudging feeling. Do it!
suldaman Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 i used to play games on pc. Then i bought a ps3 so i dont have to sit in front of a computer to play games. I dont really see how id have the time for any more than 1 console.
myplague Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Have PS3, Wii and a "high end" gaming PC. The Wii is a toy, fun when friends drop in for drinkies. Hardly use it, the Wii fit is fun. The PS3 plays movies, Buzz and Bf:BC, but 95% of the time it is a video player, can't wait for playTV though!! The gaming PC however is the go mate. I can't get off it! BF2, COD4 oh my!! Yeah buy a 360, you know you want to. I agree with the previous poster about time, no time to enjoy all the features of all the toys. I would love to explore my PS3 more, but work/"quality time" with the Mrs/sleep/watching the BD movie collection/social life all bite into my tech fetish.
nonny Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I own all three and I reckon the 360 takes up at least 85% of my gaming time. My PS3 has been resigned to being a Blu-Ray player with a handful of decent original games, and my Wii is my party fun console... aside from Rock Band, Singstar and Buzz on the other two.
MdMa11 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Ive got all 3 and a high-end gaming PC.Each of the systems have their must owns. I say go for it! x 2 !!!
Purpleax Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I have both the PS3 and X360 and they are great!, you wont regret it if you go down that path. I do get a lot more online use out of the PS3 since its free, I don't have Xbox live gold yet. On this note, if you dont care about keeping your gamerscore, you can get Xbox live for free continually. I have a second 360 in my bedroom which I dont use online very often, but still want to have the option. All you have to do is create a new XBL account from the 360 and it will give you 30 days Gold subscription for free. You can just keep doing this over and over. Its less convenient, and I dont do it for my regular 360, but for the bedroom one, I just create a new gamertag every month and I am up and away! Oh, and on topic, I have all three consoles. the 360 is by far the most used. Edited December 4, 2008 by Purpleax
swordfish805 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Which console(s) to have - depends on the games (nach!) We have a ps3, ps2, wii, nintendo 64 (remember them?) and I've lost count of the number of PCs plus a couple of NDS and an ipod touch and a few iphones. Kids play the wii and ps2 all the time. I tend to play on the PC (strategy games like CIV) and occasionally on the PS3 (Oblivion). When the whole family plays we tend to use the PS3 more than any other (Everybody's Golf and Buzz Trivia). The new Buzz with the wireless controllers and downloadable content makes for a great family game. Sometimes, late at night, when all have gone to bed except me, I fire up the N64 and go snowboarding (an old game called 360) I still can't believe how good the graphics are on the N64 with this game! Kids are getting some games for Christmas - suspect Little Big Planet may effect the useability stats of the PS3....
Raja Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 On this note, if you dont care about keeping your gamerscore, you can get Xbox live for free continually. All you have to do is create a new XBL account from the 360 and it will give you 30 days Gold subscription for free. You can just keep doing this over and over. Hmmm. I thought you could only do this a max of 5 times per console?!? (MS checks console ID when signing in etc etc) I think i read this somewhere, but could be wrong. It would seem that if you could do this indefinately, then it would be widespread and no one would buy a Live subscription?!?
nonny Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 You can buy 13 months XBL for what $40? Just search for it online... better than spending $79.95 directly through the dashboard.
Raja Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Yeah about $40USD but due to the crappy exchange rate translates to roughly $65AUD
Michael_G Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Hi all well ended up getting a 360 havnt had much of a play around yet but i have a problem.....when i connet it up using the blue, green, red... i think plugs i get picture but no sound could someone plz tell me wat im doing wrong? Cheers
mcduck Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 can't help i do the shopping and the Son does the setting up but me curious which deal did you get? and i don't play ours, but that will change when Star Ocean gets released Son and his friends may just end up with a fight on their hands
davep Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 The red/green/blue are for picture only, you need to plug in the red + white into the corresponding audio input to the component input youve plugged into for your TV as well to get audio. If you are using an amp, grab an optical cable and run an optical lead from the back of the AV plus to your amp, and in settings choose dolby digital 5.1.
the_wonderchild Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Guess the purchase was inevitable after all the feedback you received here. So, now you get to decide what games to play, and which ones to purchase next.
Michael_G Posted December 6, 2008 Author Posted December 6, 2008 Thanks for the replys guys got it all working didnt notice till this morning about the HDMI plug so i have hooked it uo using that Ended up getting the $449 deal with 4 games from Jb hifi only because it was easyer for me to get it from there and that 2 of the games that came in the deal Brothers in arms and rainbow vegas 2 where ones that i was going to like. All up im happy with it just a few things i have noticed disk drive is pretty loud compared to the PS3. The controller feels real nice in your hands compared to the PS3 one which does not feel right in your hands. Im am still trying to get used to all the buttons since i have always been a playstation person up till now...... I have read about installing the game onto the harddrive so it doesnt always have the diskdrive going how is this done? does it just do it by itself or? Cheers
