huang Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Hi guys, I'm wondering which side of the room i should face (seating)? (A) I can either (sit) facing away form the window ( the speakers and, eventually tv, will face the window ) OR (B) I can (sit) facing the window ( the speakers and, eventually tv, will face away from the window ) This is how I see it work (please correct me if I am wrong - (A) for listening to music, the sound maybe reflect off the windows harshly and affect the overall sound quality. But, watching TV / DVD i wont have the window glare behind the screen (B) for listening to music, the sound would reflect off the walls less harshly compared to the window. But, watching TV / DVD I will have the glare from the windows behind the screen (even with blinds down) What is ideal? Cheers, Eric. Edited November 27, 2008 by huang
huang Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) example of (A) cannot find, but it is self explanatory example of (B) Edited November 27, 2008 by huang

Because the speakers are pointing away from the wall/window (sliding door?) towards the centre of the room hence minimal sound reflection. You just have to position the TV that works best for you. Personally, I prefer to have the window behind me than in front of me.
Trofius Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Decent thickness curtains on that window will solve both problems.. as mentioned reflections may be a minimal problem, But glare during the day will be a hassel from either opption, either too bright behind the tv effecting perived contrast, or you will get light reflections on the screen, which is even more anoying.
Gutty Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 i'd personally go for B i think. Nothing i hate more than reflections on the TV. Not to mention the sound reflections off the glass when simply playing music through the day, plus i like to have my main speaker face the centre of the house rather than an external wall. Once again, i feel it sounds better when playing music working aroun dthe house

blairy Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Option C...have the window on one side of your system?
huang Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Option C...have the window on one side of your system? Hey friend, The window is on the short side of the room. and the room is only 3.8x3.3 I think it would be better the face the speakers across the long side of such a small room, to give more *hearing* space. ??? Also, the way the room / walls is set up, if i face across the short side of the room, it will close off and make what room i have look smaller and more cluttered. Cheers for the idea though! eric.
blairy Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Yes you're right, window on side is not a good idea for you. What did you wind up doing?
