DR.ZOIDBERG Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Watched this last night and even tho I liked the movie I found that the PQ seemed a bit washed out to me. Also I tend to see something like Blue lines on the top and side of the screen from time to time, is this normal?? anyone else seeing them? They are not bright blue but just a blueish type of tint on the top of the screen and side, I dont know if this is meant or not Hope to hear from you all soon Zoidy

momaw Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Are you watching the 3D version without the glasses I can't bring myself to watch this. The preview was torture enough.

The preview was torture enough. hahaha Nah I was watching the 2D version. See it might not be a fault but I have no idea what its called when this happens. Its like a light shinning and causing a blue edge line on the top of the screen and side from time to time. Im glade some of you think its washed out too, I was like, damn I thought my calibrations on my TV were good but this movie looks sh*t
Jeffie1503561482 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 you mean like a lense flare, michael bay style??
achjimmy Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 you mean like a lense flare, michael bay style?? I noticed a lot of that of the indiana 4 movie, thought it was the player at 1st it seemed so common.
shockvalue Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Watched my BD copy in 2-D tonight on my Epson TW2000 projector(component input) and 120" screen. Actuallly we quite enjoyed the movie and effects - sound was great, rumbling base was very effective. I've seen a lot worse of this genre( although I did miss ?Lars and his duck from the original). Brendan Fraser played the role as he generally plays these sort of roles, competently and entertaining, the girl was stunning looking and hers and Brendan's characters did have some chemistry. The young boy had an appealing, unaffected screen presence unlike most American child actors(Dakota for eg) I found the picture quality on my copy/setup generally very good. Having said that I did think the colour seemed somewhat understated in certain scenes, but in others was very vibrant and contrasty (eg particularly towards the end when they shot out of the volcano in Italy). Didn't notice any of the artifacts noted in earlier post by Dr ZOIDBERG and I was looking out since I read the thread before the movie. Watched a few scenes in 3-D which totally washed out colour but the depth effect was great. Wonder what sort of glasses they used in the cinema and if the colours were preserved?. With regard to Indiana Jones, Achjimmy,I thought that in the very beginning the colour appeared bland(perhaps even washed out), but again it varied and seemed to settle as the movie progressed. David
Mobe1969 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Yeah, I found the black levels not right in the 2d version. Reminded me of the Layer Cake black levels. Like bits where it should have been pure black were about 10% grey
DR.ZOIDBERG Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 you mean like a lense flare, michael bay style?? Yer thats it but it was mainly like a line on the top and side from time to time in the movie
